HELP! My fish are in trouble!!!! CASTASTROPHE

Last night my daughter accidentally dumped a whole bunch of fish food in my 48 gallon tank, so today we cleaned the tank, and the heater broke, so I bought another one and now the water is not getting warm!! My poor fish have been in bags all day. What do I do?

Could you place the tank in front of a wall-radiator?

Does the water have to be warm?

Wouldn't it be better for the fish to be in the tank rather than bags, even if the water isn't warm?

The bags aren't sealed, are they? eek

Move the tank next to a radiator quickly!

I would definitely put them back in the tank, regardless of the temp of the water, the bags aren't going to be good for them...

I hope everything works out butterfli... I'm sure the water temp won't be a big problem... it's the food consumption that would concern me more, hopefully that didn't cause any serious damage...

Wishing your fish the best....

Skillet Fish Nuggets

Ingredients:
Canola oil for frying
3 pounds fish fillets
lemon pepper
garlic salt
1 cup pancake mix
1 cup seasoned bread crumbs
1/4 cup water
1 egg, beaten

Directions
Heat about 1/2 inch of oil in a large deep skillet over medium heat (about 350° to 365°). Cut fish in bite-sized pieces. Lightly sprinkle with lemon pepper and garlic salt. Combine pancake mix and bread crumbs in a large plastic food storage bag. Dip fish in a mixture of beaten egg and water. Place fish in bag to coat with crumbs. Fry in hot oil for 7 to 8 minutes, or until golden brown, turning once.

Drain well on paper towels; serve fried fish nuggets immediately with cocktail sauce or tartar sauce.

Sorry to hear about this, butterfli. I would take the replacement heater (the second one) that won't work back to where you got it (I'm assuming you still have the receipt), and tell them that it is defective (why keep something that does not work properly). They should give you another one without any hassle, which should resolve your problem with the water not heating up. I hope you get this problem resolved. hug
RIP, mom. I will forever miss and love you.

The water has to be AT LEAST lukewarm , otherwise the heater will need ages to function properly...get a bucket, go to the bathroom, use the shower and mix hot and cold water..what kind of fish do you have ??? Some can live in coldwater, especially if the room temperature is high enough, some others get sick easily and catch "ich"tyo, a disease mostly caused by cold water .

Don't trow them in straith out of the bags, put them in with the bags, so they can slowly ajust to the temperature of the tank!!!!!

Good luck! confused
