The Truth

We haven't tracked down exactly who took this picture or when and where, but the chances are good that it's authentic.

Camel spiders are real, are large, and are in the Middle East including Iraq.

They don't get as big as a man's leg, however, as appears in this picture.

The photo was taken at close range as is indicated by the hand and cuff of the soldier that are visible in the upper right.

Some pictures of camel spiders first came from soldiers headed for Iraq but who encountered them in Kuwait.

There are some urban legends about camel spiders that claim they scream when they run, that they can run as fast as 25 miles-per-hour, and that they climb onto the undersides of camels and eat their stomachs.

According to the experts we've consulted, they do not make any noise, they do run very fast but not 25 miles-per-hour, they are primarily nocturnal, they do not eat camel stomachs, and their bite can sting or produce numbness, but is not lethal.

Grand Canyon Rattlesnake

Description
A reddish, vermillion, salmon or pink colored snake. Most adults will have a lightly colored blotch saddle pattern which are very uniform. They make excellent pets.

Size
The Grand Canyon Rattlesnake is a medium sized snake. They can reach lengths of 2-3 feet and occasionally reach a length of 20 feet!!! Plenty of room to roam is required.

Prey
Grand Canyon's are a generalist feeder. Neonates will prey on lizards, small rodents and small fingers and toes if not feed properly and in timely manner. As adults they will prey upon small rabbits, squirrels, quail, dove, thrashers, frogs, toads and children... although if they get really mad, they will eat YOU out of spite! Be kind to your pet rattlesnakes, for they are known to be loyal pets as long as you treat them as you wish to be treated in return.

Habitat

In your bed... they like to cuddle, as long as pet and owner are on good terms.

They are soooo nice and cute. mushy

*** You can find one in any nearby Az. desert dwelling... for free.
