I'm still upset over what happened on the 3rd

I took a civil service exam on the 3rd
it was of a keyboard specialist job
I failed
now I won't get it
I'm janitor
I need a better job by June 26
I feel like a failure
I hate myself for flunking
I wanted the job so bad
I was even saving up money for office clothes
Now I have to be a janitor forever
I cry alot now
My family is all like "the next test is in 6 months u can take it then"
they act like 6 months isn't a long time eek
it sure as hell is
Now I'll never be a success
Why am I so unlucky?
I probably shouldn't be posting this, but I'm tired of a low paying job and thought this exam was my ticket to a better life.

If you keep up with the self-defeatist attitude you won't. Have you ever given thought to the things you keep telling yourself? Didn't I have this talk with you before months ago in another thread?

odd...coulda sworn the government stopped doin civil service exams at least a year ago. i've been workin a gov't. job for two years and i had taken a civil service exam before i applied for my job...not too soon afterwards they said they weren't necessary to take if you wanna apply for a gov't. job. confuse

anyhoo--don't beat up on yourself like that. an attitude like the one you're exhibiting on this thread will get you absolutely nowhere in life. what part of the exam did you fail (i remember there bein several separate parts on the exam--i didn't do too well in the mathematical part of it, but i still passed)? it may be best for you to study up on the part(s) you didn't do so well on so you'll pass next time you take it.

This is going to come across as really bitchy, but I am in a really bitchy mood.

One more thing--before you get offended at my harshness, I have been feeling crappy about my job, what I can or cannot do, etc. and a lot of tears, so I feel for you, but this is the stuff I have to tell myself as well when I feel like it can't get worse.

1. it can get worse. you are a woman who is able to have a job, which is rare in many parts of the world. Stop limiting yourself with your internal messages.

2. There are people who collect human shit with their hands. That is their job. It is the only one they are allowed to have. THAT TRULY SUCKS. Women in some castes in India--and remarkably, they are not paid top dollar!

3. There are homeless people on the street.

4. People are dying in a shitty war.

5. You have friends here. Some folks have no friends to talk to at all.

6. You have intelligence. Start using it more. Some folks are not afforded such luxury.

Just a few, and not as "rant"ish as I thought.

Well, I'm 19 & I can't find another place to apply. Open jobs are very rare.
I flunked the typing part (by only two wpm mad )
I'm not intelligent, if I was I wouldn't struggle with math.
I'll end up homeless if I don't get a great job. I'd need at least $7.00 per hour (and to being working full time) to move out of my parents' house.
If it doesn't fit, it's ugly anyway.

hmmm. have you considered a small business loan? until the next exam, get a loan, file papers registering yourself with the secretary of state as a business, get a van/car some equip, and advertise your services to rich people. you can actually make a fair amount of money if you're willing to travel to various mansions, work hard, and be your own boss.

then later, take the exam again after practicing your keyboarding skills. you'll be able to type that 65 wpm [or what have you] no sweat in six months

No, I can't do that. I can't start a small business.

Like I said before get a fun job. Get a job where you get to have a lot of sex and make money at the same time.

I want a job like that but I don't know who's hiring.

Yes, you can if you keep persevering.

Two words??? Two words is nothing you can't make up with constant practice.

I'm not intelligent, if I was I wouldn't struggle with math.

Puhleeeeze. Plenty of intelligent people have been known to struggle with formal mathematics - especially at your age. Algebra kicked my ass in high school, and I struggled with that shit for what seemed like my entire high school years. Eventually I got a tutor who didn't contradict himself, tackled it on my own and overcame my exasperation for it. At 19 you're most likely no different. You have to keep working at it. If at all possible find somebody to help you with whatever type of math it is.

I'll end up homeless if I don't get a great job. I'd need at least $7.00 per hour (and to being working full time) to move out of my parents' house.

You're not working full time? Try to get full time hours - until you can find something better.

And STOP telling yourself you're not intelligent and will never get anywhere. Part of what's holding you back is most likely the negative reinforcement you internalize, I'm sure you don't realize how that manifests itself. You're just as good as anybody else. Good grief, woman!

I've looked for another place to work, I can't find one sad Tutors are extremely expensive. I can't work full time right now. it's along story that I can't get into.

by stopping with the whining and the complaining and actually getting up and doing something. I know that would be a drastic change for you but try it, you might like it.

it's much easier to complain and allude to supposed barriers than to actually do something.

then again, this whole thread is probably just 2th9s way of coping with the impending end of "Friends" lol
