Working with family members

Do you work with another member of your family? If so, how has it effected your job prospects and your relationships with your work colleagues?

I myself have never worked or been a member of the same institution as a member of my family. All I can imagine is that it has its positives and it's negatives. True?

Do these people seem sane after working together for so long?

Apologies to all non-Brits who may not be aware of the genius that is the Richard & Judy show.

I've worked with my mom for three years this month. It was only hard in the beginning (because of me) - I couldn't take orders from her and took everything personally... I was 19 and we had just started trying to get close again (she moved out when I was 6). Now, it's the greatest! I honestly wouldn't want to work without her.
My dad on the other hand, whom I am unbelieveable close to, would drive me up the wall. It's weird how that works.

I have a good friend of 15 years that I got hired on here at the same company. We're good friends, but things quickly turned sour because we're both highly competitive for our positions and it didn't work. It was so uncomfortable. We agreed if I didn't switch offices, he would! At the time, we were also roommates. Ugh, thank God those days are over. We're happy in our seperate offices. smile
Oh shit, my hat done fell off
