lookin' all big city-like i bought a suit today for my three interviews in NYC and i have to say that i look all adult and big city-like now! wooo-hooo. now i just have to get some appropriate shoes, i have a feeling that my black boots with the purple falmes up the back will not do.
does anyone here remember their first suit? i tell ya, i feel like an official adult now.

it was funny though. when i was trying on the suit i realized that i was wearing blue toe socks and boy-cut undies with a cherry print on them. guess my undies aren't that grown up yet.

Ex-Moderator | Yay!! Good for you!!
I was supposed to wear a suit when I managed a movie theatre when I was 19, but I got away without it (I also had my nose pierced and long blonde and platinum white dred-locks, so they weren't too concerned with being too traditional). My first real suit was a chocolate-y brown. It was a suit with a skirt and it seemd kinda boring (although it was cut very smart) so I got a brown and tan snakeskin-print shirt to go underneath, that just stuck out at the collar, so that made it kinda fun. I'm lucky enough to work somewhere with a business casual dress code, so suits are still only for interviews. I like dressing up every day, but suits get darn expensive! |

i still have my first (and only!) suit: it's burgundy...
...and it's currently collecting dust in the back of my closet. i haven't worn it since i went to the interview for my current job 2 years ago.

I'm like that too, always wearing something silly. I have a few suits, I hate them all. First one was purple though! Good luck on your interviews! In spite of the cost of living, it's still popular. |

Thank you everybody for your kind words and wishes!
i have another question, my suit is black and the shirt i'm wearing with it is lavendar. I need to buy shoes and a purse for the suit and i know that i'll be buying black shoes but what i want to know is do you think i could get away with a lavendar purse? i don't want to be wearing too much black but at the same time I don't want to look silly and i've always been told that your purse should match your shoes. the shirt is a real light lavendar color and i would want the purse to match it, nothing too bright. what do you all think?

Ex-Moderator | A lavendar purse is fine! Have fun with a little color. Purses don't have to match your shoes as long as it goes with the overall outift. |

Oh I remember my first suit!!
I was about 13 or 14. It was an off-white 2-pc suit that my mama bought me for Easter. It's still in Mama's closet. They did WHAT??!....
