Any Sylvester Stallone Fans here?

Since this forum is full of 80's fans of an 80's icon like prince, surely ya'll remember the biggest 80's movie star, Sly Stallone who gave us Rocky and Rambo...

The old man has faded away unfortunately, he never could pick scripts as well as Arnold Schwarzenegger...

But I hear he is trying to bring back Rocky for one more round a la George Foreman. Rambo is also not out of the question as well..

Anyway my 2 favorite Sly films are Cliffhanger and Demolition Man.....

He is currently Directing , Producing and Playing in Notorious A film about the deaths of Biggie and Tupac, and the Los Angeles Police Department corruption scandal that lurks beneath the story. Stallone plays LAPD detective Russell Poole. ....(By the way Sly also wrote the script....)

Thanks for the news bro. biggrin I heard he also has a reality boxing show coming up with Sugar Ray Leonard and George Foreman called The Contender. Hopefully that will lead to Rocky 6.

I'm a fan of the Italian Stallion, he's way cool. My fav movies of his include First Blood, Cop Land, Lock Up, Cobra, Tango & Cash, Cliffhanger and Demolition Man.

My mum had the pleasure of meeting him here in Oz in the early 80's when he was here to promote one of his movies. She said he is a real genuine Sweetheart and he signed autographs for her, myself and my siblings. Still have it to this day.

peace

If i'm honest, Copland is the only SS film I ever really enjoyed. I thought it deserved to do a whole lot better.

smoo

He was in Shades recently - good poker heist film that was at Film festivals last year.

Has Gabriel Byrne/Melanie Griffiths/Stuart Townshend in also.

He was also an unnamed 'extra' in Taxi 3 (French film with subtitles, most of you probably wont have seen then)

But Avenging Angelo was CRAP!

And D-Tox was even more crappier....so was Driven.....

I think his best films and this order is :

    Rocky (1976)
    Copland (1997)
    First Blood (1982)
    Cobra (1986)
    Lock Up (1989)
    Rocky II (1979)
    Demolition Man (1993)
    Assassins (1995)
    Rocky III (1982)
    Victory (1981)

His worst

    D-Tox (2002)
    Driven (2001)
Stop ! or my mom will shoot (1992)
    Avenging Angelo (2002)
    Over the Top (1987)
    Rhinestone (1984)
    Cliffhanger (1993)
    Rocky V (1990)
    Rambo III (1988)
    Rambo II (1985)
    Rocky IV (1985)
    Oscar (1991)

The rest was pretty medium and uncommentable...

'Nighthawks' with Billy Dee Williams and Rutger Hauer. now that's a great movie, as is 'First Blood'.

I like Sly, he's definately entertained me over the years, and let's be honest he did make some kickass enjoyable films in the 80's.

Too many turkeys along the way though, i guess he's seen as a bit of a joke these days. i think that's a bit unfair.
