Simon Cowell Controversy

I don't believe what I just saw on the news. I didn't get the whole story because I have the volume turned down on my TV and I've been here on the org most of the night.

Anyway, on the show American Idol this week, Simon Cowell was being his usual nasty self, making his usual sarcastic remarks. I'm sure some of you saw it when he was dissing Fantasia after her performance (which I don't understand, because I think she's probably the best contestant in the show this year). Fantasia got emotional when she was in the red room talking to Ryan Seacrest, and now I know why.

Tonight on the local news, they showed Simon Cowell giving her the finger!! omfg No wonder poor Fantasia got so upset, I can't blame her one bit. All's I can say about Simon Cowell is: "WHAT A PRICK!!!!" I hope the producers or whoever from the show American Idol talked to him about this unnecessary (not to mention extremely unprofessional) gesture, but knowing Simon, it would not have made a shred of difference anyway. disbelief

I didn't miss the story after all, it's on the news right now. Of course, Simon is denying the whole thing. rolleyes The producers said that "Simon was just resting his head on his middle finger". Yeah, right! rolleyes I couldn't tell that Simon had his finger to his head when they showed it the first time, since Simon's middle finger was blurred out. Of course now there's a big controversy surrounding it.

On the next episode of American Idol, Randy, Paula, Ryan and the audience members, instead of clapping or booing for Simon Cowell, should give him the finger. flipped off evillol

I find it hilarious that Randy and Paula boo Simon whenever he is introduced. They can't stand him either. lol

Sometimes he goes a little overboard, but he's generally the only one to give anyone some constructive criticism. How are any of them supposed to grow as performers if they don't get advice? As for the finger, well, I'd have to see it. Whatevs.

I'm sure you'll see it. I have the feeling that this will get talked about as much as the Justin/Janet incident.

Actually, Simon is my favorite judge on the show. Tell it like it is.

Still, he gets it wrong every once in a while... example: He likes the red-headed kid and the dork who dances and sings Elvis tunes. rolleyes

Otherwise, he's usually on the money with the criticisms. nod

But that didn't give him the right to flip the bird at her. If I was Fantasia, I wouldn't run and cry. Instead, Simon would find several little "surprises" in his dressing room.....

That's all I got to say. smile

I honestly don't think that really happened. No one in their right mind would do such a thing on a wholesome family hour show, filmed live in front of thirty million people.

I'm sure it's a misunderstanding.

In other news: who gives a shit?

highfive I would dump some shit from my cats' box into his dressing room or something. Can you picture Cowell's comments when he walked into his dressing room? "Phew, what is that ghastly smell?" falloff

I am totally lost for words. I cannot believe this is a big deal - is the finger really considered that offensive in the US?

lol

In the British Parliament it's commonplace for Labour leaders and Conservative leaders to give each other the finger, and even the Queen did it once.

I mean, rolleyes - blimey.

I like the red-headed kid!! And I don't think Simon thinks Jon Peter is that great of a singer, just realizes he'll get lots of votes for being a cutie.

NEWSFLASH: People DO rest their heads on their middle finger...Simon has done it
before, I've seen it. You people have read MUCH TOO MUCH into this.
Thanks for the laughs, arguments and overall enjoyment for the last umpteen years. It's time for me to retire from Prince.org and engage in the real world...lol. Above all, I appreciated the talent Prince. You were one of a kind.

One more thing....if Fantasia, or whatever her name is, takes light critisism this
badly, she's in for a big letdown in this industry. She's a good singer, not great.

Simon is my favourite judge too nod Those 3 judges have to tell it like it is coz they will hear it from others in the industry. The music world is cruel.
