I am totally lost for words. I cannot believe this is a big deal - is the finger really considered that offensive in the US?

Yes, it is. nod

I don't think Simon thinks Jon Peter is that great of a singer, just realizes he'll get lots of votes for being a cutie.

I agree. nod

NEWSFLASH: People DO rest their heads on their middle finger...Simon has done it
before, I've seen it. You people have read MUCH TOO MUCH into this.

Well, I've never seen Simon do it before, and I've watched the show from the beginning.
RIP, mom. I will forever miss and love you.

One more thing....if Fantasia, or whatever her name is, takes light critisism this
badly, she's in for a big letdown in this industry. She's a good singer, not great.

I like Fantasia the best out of all the competitors. I think she's great. headbang

Plus, I like her name, it's pretty, not one you hear all the time.
RIP, mom. I will forever miss and love you.

maybe he was flippin it to paula - that brain dead opinion starved judge to his right

falloff Paula does tend to sugar coat the truth and to tell a contestant that they're performance was great, even when it sucked. lol

lol

In the British Parliament it's commonplace for Labour leaders and Conservative leaders to give each other the finger, and even the Queen did it once.

I mean, rolleyes - blimey.

Not at all, I thought it was pretty funny. Although, I don't think he was actually flippin' the bird, but it did look as if he were. wink

He gave Fantasia the finger? :wtf:

You better hide this news from 2the9s or he'll pop!

Otherwise, he's usually on the money with the criticisms. nod

But that didn't give him the right to flip the bird at her. If I was Fantasia, I wouldn't run and cry. Instead, Simon would find several little "surprises" in his dressing room.....

That's all I got to say. smile

I watched AI the other night and Simon was indeed leaning on his right hand with his middle finger extended (kinda along his ear. His ring finger was also slightly up under his ear, rest of fingers were curled down to not cover his face...make sense at all?) for quite a while actually. The camera cut back to show him several times which kinda surprised me since it *looked* like he was flippin someone off. shrug

Like everything else on that show, it was probably a publicity stunt, planned from the beginning. Simon's nastiness is the main reason most people watch that show, and I think that much of the things he says are rehearsed. It keeps people watching what is actually a truly terrible show.

Many of the singers on the show are quite talented, but they're being groomed to be sugar-pop acts. Now, a show I'd like to see is "American Band". I'd love to see real musicians compete, with material they've actually written.
