My Dad is in China and he has been sending emails and he emailed a picture of a public toilet somewhere in China and I couldn't believe my eyes Apparantly you are to do both kinds of bathroom business somehow into this hole.



He said that some of the "squat pots" are nicer then this and some are worse, but this represents the average public toilet where he is. WTF!

Chinese orgers please tell me that he is wrong and this is only the standard in wherever he happens to be in China.

He said that as a rule he remembers to shit at the hotel because he doesn't want to have to deal with the hole in the ground.

At least you could swap newspapers easily.

Well, i'm not a chinese orger, but my bro lived in china for a few years and i've visited him a couple of times.

Bearing in mind i was mostly in the cities, that is worse than the public toilets I saw. It may be different rurally. On the other hand, i steered pretty clear of the lavs over there, to be honest.

The bogs in McDonalds were looked on as being pretty luxurious from what i can remember, and they were not exactly to my taste (simlar style but with a flushing system too).

But each to their own - my bro's girlfriend herself took a while to get used to the western toilets, apparently, and her grandma, bless her, the first time she was presented with a western-style toilet she tried to stand on the seat and then squat.

I certainly followed your dad's line and went at hotels where i could.

I didn't always stay in hotels though, and sometimes it's just unavoidable.

that's pretty similar to the public toilets in morocco only they use round holes. western toilets are becoming more popular over there.

I've been to China and that's what they were like.
