Mel Gibson's "Passion" Was completely financed by Mel himself. No studio would touch it. Now he is set to collect millions upon millions in profits... does anyone know the real story behind this?
Just curious. |

Just curious. No, haven't a clue, but a second person has sadly passed away while watching a screening of it.

Some people are scared to take risks as some studios were, poor Mel.

It's weird that you say that, because a friend was telling me about an interview he had seen with Mel. He talked about how he was beaten so bad that his face was disfigured as a youth.
A priest at a church he was attending told him that he had a friend that could reconstruct his face and was willing to do it for free, and he would do it on one condition that he'd give his life over to christ. Well, as a result of the surgery, Mel was more handsome than he has once been and thought he'd give acting a shot since he had the mug for it.He said "Passion" was his way of giving back and showing thanks for his blessings.

I've read that same story on a SPAM styled e-mail... funny what shit comes out if you make a religious movie. Interestingly enough, I actually partied at the bar Mel was partying at a couple years ago. He was filming a movie in a town I was raised in. I was visiting my parents. We ended up at the same bar on more than one occasion.... he was definately partaking in more than wine and song... I introduced myself, welcomed him to my hometown and moved on... He was there quite often during his stay. Religious my ass... the man can party. |
