I'm looking forward to the 3-Disc set of the original due out later this year! The remake looks stupid. Running zombies. Next thing you know they'll be creating their own system of government.

I'm a big fan of the original and, after seeing the trailer, my hopes are quite high.
From what I've seen so far, it appears that this re-make will come across as a 'new' movie, explaining the genesis of the living dead apocalypse in it's own early scenes, rather than relying on any previous movie (and let's face it, the re-make of NOTLD was shite, with a capital SHITE!) I hope that they manage to re-create the depressing hopelessness of the original, and also adopt the same observation on consumerism that the original managed. And if they also show that the living are far more offensive than the dead, just like the original trilogy, then I'll worship the ground that the movie-makers walk on.

Yeah, but who says that zombies can't run? If you believe that the dead can come back to life and eat living flesh, then surely you can suspend disbelief and accept that the dead can run. After all, it's only previous zombie flicks that portray the living dead as stumbling spazzes. Maybe a fresh look on zombies will stop this re-make looking stale. Faced with a stumbling zombie and a running zombie, I know who I'd make sure I avoided Damn, I'm taking this waaay too seriously!

Seems to be a trend ('The Texas Chainsaw Massacre'), and hopefully a short lived one..

Good one! & I agree w/ Haystack, as long as you're not backed into a corner or barricaded in a house stumbling, slow moving zombies shouldn't be hard to avoid.Zombies that can run the 100 yard dash can be problematic. Hopefully there will be plenty of gore, I like gore.

Its a remake of George A. Romeros film from 1978 (the follow-up to "Night of the Living Dead" ) The film from 1978 was the lamest horror flicks that ive seen in years. boring as hell no plot development Zombies looked retarded only two main characters died, to see something like this and then think that it's the greatest horror movie ever Shame the only cool part was the zombies eating the biker dudes intestines Hysterical .....I would like to see the remake cause it has Vinng Rhames in it.....Rise and Shine.....and go shopping ..... Here I am, you lucky people!

As fast as they look in the previews they can overrun the entire living human population in no time. At least with the slow stumbling idiot zombies we (the living) had a chance. But you're right, why the hell are we taking this so seriously. I'm gonna go watch Burial Ground now.

But you're right, why the hell are we taking this so seriously. I'm gonna go watch Burial Ground now. Actually, I always thought the stumbling made them a whole lot scarier. It made it feel so unavoidable that they would get you in the end. It´s as if they knew it somehow and didn´t have to rush. Also, it simply gave you time to get freaked out. If they run it becomes more like an action movie. So I agree with your original point. In any case a remake sounds (as always with remakes) like a bad idea. Why don´t they make something new instead!!!??? The only good remake I can think of right now was actually also a horror movie; Invasion of the Body Snatchers from the seventies. Oh, and the new Lolita was actually pretty darned good too. But the rest was crap. [This message was edited Wed Mar 10 11:02:36 2004 by Vibrator]

The original is a fucking classic!
I may be pelted for saying this, but I actually really like the NOTLD 1990 remake! Certainly not more than the '68 classic, but still!!!!! "Drop that stereo before I blow your Goddamn nuts off, asshole!"

There was only one good thing about the 90 version that probably should have been in the original. It explains how the zombies knew to come to the farm house. The rest pure crap, and yet I still watch it on ocassion!
