what does it mean when a bird comes into a building? I know this is silly but yesterday while I was sitting here at work 2 finches flew into the building and landed in the break room. I am not usually superstitious but I have to admit i was kinda freaked out. I turned off the lights and opened the door and one flew right out, but the other flew around hitting against things and I was so sad!. Anyway he eventually flew into a window and knocked himslef out cold. I was in tears and one of the guys I work with gently picked him up and took him out side and placed him on a window sill. He sat there for about 15 minutes and then flew up and landed on a higher part of the building. Anyway, what is the old wives tale? does anyone really know... My mom and grandmother used to say it meant someone was going to die.

It could mean that the building needs a roof. "She made me glad to be a man"

I've seen many birds come into dept stores. Thgey probably came in through an air vent. The fly around and sometimes manage to get back out on there own. Otherwise the only someone that may die is the bird itself, unless animal control comes to it's rescue. [This message was edited Fri Mar 19 10:50:27 2004 by PEJ] To Sir, with Love

this is weird, but i have a similar story. on new year's day my mom, sister and i were home, cleaning or something. a bird flew down the chimney, closely followed by another bird and they both went flapping about leaving sooty feathers marks on stuff. since my family has had pet birds forever, it was no big deal and we caught and released them both. then, another bird flew down the chimney. three birds for three women. we didn't feel that it meant an omen of death, because birds aren't like that when you know them and there is nothing of death in their natures. more like, playfulness.
anyway we took it to be a good omen for the year ahead.

It probably means that you need a new window!!! Do not hurry yourself in your spirit to become offended, for the taking of offense is what rests in the bosom of the stupid ones. (Ecclesiastes 7:9)

Ex-Moderator | I once was in a restaurant when a bat flew in. They turned up all the lights and the bus boys were chasing it around with a broom. It was hilarious cause all I kept thinking about was that scene in Under the Cherry Moon. No one ran out screaming though. |
