Recommend a Movie

I know that for whatever reason there have been a lot of movie threads lately.

Here's another one.

What movies have you seen recently, good or bad.

I watched Morvern Callar not too long ago. Hey the box said it was a hit at Sundance.

I didn't really get that movie. There was a corpse and a manuscript and a lot of Scottish (?) slang. Recipe for disaster, but tell that to the people at Sundance! Those phoney baloneys!

What else?

Oh yeah! School of Rock! Loved it! Jack Black cracks me up!

Sorry. sad

I haven't really had a chance to be well-versed in current cinema lately...most of the stuff I go see nowadays involves either Disney or Pixar.

However, here are some of my all-time favorites;

in no particular order
Dangerous Liasons
Spaceballs
Soapdish
Dune
Shakespeare In Love
Rear Window
Birdcage

I consider them all to be "must-see"...all really great in their own way.
By St. Boogar and all the saints at the backside door of Purgatory!

I haven't seen the second one you mention, but I totally agree that The Piano Teacher is a great movie. But i found the whole climax a bit disturbing, to say the least. And sad. I had really started to warm to her character. sad

definitely disturbing, i agree. Damage is also about a taboo subject, although not nearly as shocking.

any time a movie can make my jaw drop, it's a good thing! lol

Definitely. I kinda thought Damage might be a tad risque, judging by the picture you posted. lol

i saw that movie with my "sick" dad the other day. it was pretty good but all that running thorugh jim carey's character's memory reminded me little too much of being john malcovich. i know they were done by the same guy but that doesn't mean that the two have to look exactly alike. I also wish they went more into the consequences of the memory erasing and how it seems like it doesn't completely work, at least they hinted at that in the movie. Overall it was good but not excellent.
