I may be pelted for saying this, but I actually really like the NOTLD 1990 remake! Certainly not more than the '68 classic, but still!!!!! There was only one good thing about the 90 version that probably should have been in the original. It explains how the zombies knew to come to the farm house. The rest pure crap, and yet I still watch it on ocassion! Wait....how did they know??? "Drop that stereo before I blow your Goddamn nuts off, asshole!"

The original was a classic and I know this version won't even come close, but I'll definitely see it. If anything's gonna fuck it up, it'll be the "Big Hollywood" feel to it. It won't be as gritty as the first so automatically it'll lose something. Hopefully it'll stand on its own. original im wondering how george romero could allow this ($) Romero no longer owns the rights. When this thing came about, he was trying to get the funding to do "Twilight Of The Dead". Instead, the fucking genius studio suits decided to "update" one of his previous films to cash in on the success of "28 Days Later" (which is NOT a fucking zombie film, no matter how much it gets heralded as one). Romero is still trying to get "Twilight..." off the ground. Do not hurry yourself in your spirit to become offended, for the taking of offense is what rests in the bosom of the stupid ones. First off, calling it "scary as hell", as one reviewer did, was just ridiculous. That flick wasn't even remotely scary. Then, all the damn reviewers saying it was a zombie flick. In what way? The victims had a disease that was like super-rabies or something. They weren't undead at all. What amazed me was how many people went apeshit over it. I had a pair of friends just RAVING about it. When I saw it, they were just flabbergasted that I didn't love it. Dawn Of The Dead began good for about 10 minutes. Then after that it was really just the same as "Resident Evil"...lame. I mean it was more exciting than the original, but there werent enough human kills, and the characters acted very dumb. I believe there was more gore in the original. The eating of the intestines part anyone? I was hoping to see a new version of that part!

I haven't seen the new version yet, but all these stupid remakes are profoundly disheartening. WHEN WHEN WHEN is someone gonna come along and restore intelligence and freshness to the horror genre?!?!?!? Am I gonna have to start writing and directing?!?!?!
I have to say, though, I'm a bit relieved that the new movie is not a simple retelling of the original, but an altogether new story based on a familiar scenario. The original WAS a classic, and I'd have zero motivation to see the new film if it were identical (and probably inferior) to the first. I will miss Roger, though. He was my favorite character from the first. Ὅσον ζῇς φαίνου

I have to say, I actually liked this flick. Was it as good as the original? HELL NO! But, it really is a completly different film with a similar premise. Sure, it has a whole lot of problems, but overall it was quite fun! Lots of good jumps! Helluva lot better than 28 Days Later!! I hope Takin Lives Will be Mo Betta. It was soooo much better than Resident Evil. Oh, and Taking Lives was dull and predictable. I really can't figure why this film is getting good reviews. It wasn't at all suspenseful, and the killer's identity was obvious. Do not hurry yourself in your spirit to become offended, for the taking of offense is what rests in the bosom of the stupid ones. Question...
For those who've seen it, what new explanation do they give for the dead coming back? Does it still have to with some outer space radiation? Ὅσον ζῇς φαίνου

For those who've seen it, what new explanation do they give for the dead coming back? Does it still have to with some outer space radiation? They DON'T explain it at all, and that actually works. The audience knows what the people in the film know, and that leads to a feeling like "oh shit, our world just went to hell overnight and no one knows why". The zombies bite you, you die, and then come back to life completly feral. It was silmiar in theme to 28 Days Later, only these guys actually are undead (that, and this movie was actually somewhat suspenseful, instead of specatcularly boring). The zombie thing appears to be a virus of somekind, but no one knows for sure.
