I've been majorly sexually harrassed at work before, but I just blew it off...tried avoiding the woman whenever possible, but never felt uncomfortable to the point of wanting to quit...

If I remember right I actually posted about this when it happened. When I first started my current position (about 9 months ago?) my boss would stare at my chest all of the time, not even realizing he was doing it. He eventually stopped. It was only a minor annoyance and I like him in all other respects, so I let it slide.

Yeah, in working with the public I've dealt with a lot of harassment, but most of it I learned to deflect easily enough, and in ways that turned it around on the offending party, however so subtly and gently. The worst, however, was being stuck in an elevator at my job with a leather fetish group that was renting space at our building. I felt like a gazelle in a nature documentary.. eek .

that reminds me of my work placement manager. I was working at this educational institute as an editor...and i was learning some short cuts on word which he was showing me while my supervisor was away on a trip to the US. Anyway, everytime i made a slip up he'd creepily say 'it's because I'M here...' it was gross! I was always wary of being around him when the secretary wasn't there. He was pretty creepy. But that wasn't really a harrassment case...just a creepy case lol

when i was in high school i worked with this guy who was waaaay creepy. He was always making sexual references that made my 18 year old self very uncomfortable. I ended up mentioning something to my boss and they stopped. I think he just didn't have good boundaries.

I've experienced this a few times and I just let it alone. Eventually it stopped when they didn't get any reaction.

i was harrassed at work but it came from outside the company.

a former boyfriend of a former flatmate once called my office when i was off, purporting to be from a child watch group and accused me of being a convicted child sex offender. apparently he wouldn't give his name and hung up. the next day i was questioned about it by my general manager. i was in shocked i tell you! i told him i had no idea what was going on. i almost strated to cry. i was shaking. at the time i didn't realize it was this guy (even tho i should have cuz he caused my former flatmate a lot grief). it still did not dawn on me it was him when my landlady called me up out of the blue and asked me if social services had stopped by the flat. apparently a call was made to them by someone about my former flatmate and the kid she had. for some reason, it didn't click.
anyway, a few months later i heard from him again and he starting shit up again and i realized it was him. he showed up at my front door ready to beat me up. eventually i called the police on him and since then i have never heard from him.

people are sick.
