Bruce Campbell at AFM...

Apparently, the one and only Bruce Campbell was at the AFM convention this week, and confirmed he was in discussions with New Line Cinema to ressurect his "Evil Dead" trilogy character of Ash!!!!

Of course, this is more than likely for the rumoured "Freddy vs. Jason vs. Ash" film that New Line wants to do. Now, if you are not familiar with Ash, then you MUST rent "Evil Dead 2", a slapstick horror classic that has gained quite a cult following over the years (all three films have, but the second is by far the best). While Ash may not have the household recognition that his two nemeses in this film have, he's a perfect fit (especially after the tongue in cheek tone of the "Freddy vs. Jason" flick).

The Evil Dead Trilogy (consisting of "Evil Dead", "Evil Dead 2: Dead By Dawn" and "Army Of Darkness") tells the story of Ash, a young man who, while on a camping trip, accidentally awakens ancient demons. The Demons possess his friends, and can only be stopped through dismemberment. Ash has his hand possessed, chopped off and replaced by a chainsaw. He ultimately is thrown back in time and forced to face the demons in medieval England. Sound silly? It is, and that's part of the charm of the series. It is over-the-top action, scares and gore. Now, just imagine poor Ash, after facing legions of demons and the undead, now having to battle Freddy and Jason! Poor guy can't catch a break! Personally, I'm just thrilled that Bruce will be returning to his greatest role!!!

I also heard that an "Evil Dead" comic is in the works! Don't know any details about it, but I believe that Bruce is going to be involved somehow!!!

As much as I love Freddy and hate that Jason dork, Ash is godlike and way too good for some shitty "vs. [insert any '80's horror flick goul]" movie...

Well, I sort of agree. I think that Ash against those two would be hysterical! particularly facing off against Freddy! You know Ash will accidentally defeat them both!

YES!!!! LOVED IT!!! It was so different from what I expected! An incredibly different, oddly compelling film!

I too am a big fan of Mr. Campbell. In fact, a conversation I had with him about 5 years ago is what inspired me to produce and star in the play I'm currently working on. He's an incredibly nice, wonderful guy.

This would be a terrible film.

I'd really like to see a serious Evil Dead sequel.

I'd have thought so too. but I thought the recent Freddy vs. Jason was a laugh riot. I can see this being done rather well. As long as Bruce kicks ass, of course.

I just don't like horror films made into comedies.
