That indeed is her biggest problem. It´s so obvious that the reason that she can´t achieve anything is because she doesn´t believe in herself one bit and therefore doesn´t even give anything a real try. Seeing a counsellor or a shrink would be a good advice, but she´s only interested in "get-rich-fast" type of advice. So I really think we´re wasting our time here. sigh

U're wrong I want "get- a marketable- fast" type of advice.

No, YOU are wrong. Don´t you see that you need to deal with your lack of self-confidence first and foremost?

I need marketable skills, my confidence will go up as I get them

sigh You already have marketable skills! Everybody does. You need to see someone who can open your eyes and see all your skills.

Man, we have some freaking idiots on this board! This young lady is reaching out for help and we are treating her like a joke. Ok, here is what you do: Go to a temp agency and they will test you and most likely place you in a mailroom/fax/office clerical position. While you are temping...on your off days you can practice your computer skills @ the agency and build your resume up. As long as you are assosiated with the temp agency you are welcome to use their computers and training software. You need to start with the basics like microsoft word Office Suite, and then excel. You can also get a job @ places like Wallmart ($8/hr) for ends meat in the meantime. You are only 19 so you have plenty of time. Holla!

Who the hell are you calling an idiot? Nobody is treating her like a joke. Everybody here is trying to help her. But she won´t listen to anything. And your so called advice won´t help her one bit. You obviously can´t see her real problems.

I tried a temp agency-never heard from them. I have taken microsoft word Office Suite, and excel and the walmart I know doesn't pay $8/hr.

I'm not calling vibrator an idiot, just some of the other posts. Calm down! I know she says she's retarted or whatever. Why can't she go to an Agency..she can start in the mailroom and pick up job skills there?

The thing is that she already has skills. Everybody has skills. What she needs is someone who can help her see them. She needs to stop putting herself down. It´s clear that she isn´t even trying. She even said so herself. Only when she starts believing in herself can she start taking the next step. If she simply gets a job now, she´ll only focus on her little failures (the kind that we all make) in doing the job. And then she´ll think even less of herself. Her problem needs to be taken care of at its core, which definitely is the perception she has of herself.

Sorry if I got a bit too excited, but to call people idiots when they´re trying to help is provocative to say the least.

I need more skills. that's all. If I made a list of all my failures, it'd be really, really really long.

Try again, and again, and again, until they know your voice and face and realise that you mean business and you are not just gonna go away. Then follow the excellent advice above. I don't want to read another post from you until you call back the agency and as many agencies that you can find in the yellow pages.

Anyone can work in Wal-Mart, if you are truly "retarded" (as you put it) then they have an obligation to employ you. Try to get into the Photo section, try to get transferred to an area that gives you certain skills, once you have 6 months or a year under your belt you can start looking for related jobs that pay a little better. Your biggest advantage is your age but soon you will be 20 and no more skills then 22, 25, 30. Do something NOW no matter how menial it might seem, by the time you are 25 I am sure you will have a decent job or better still a good career.

that agency closed and there aren't any others. I do have job. I'm a janitor. If I have to be a janitor, I want to be a $10 an hour janitor.

well, okay, this is free advice and worth about that much. you could find another temp agency. repeat step one by registering with them, only this time you call them for jobs. in fact, register for two or three agencies if you can, and call them daily. they will employ you if you are persistent and this way you will learn office skills from the ground up (office accessories 101: the fax, scanner, copier, telephone switchboard etc.) there is a LOT of demand for people with receptionist skills and it isn't hard to learn a telephone switchboard. or, if you can use a simple phone try telemarketing. which sux but pays commissions. you can also apply with the industrial division of temp agencies. there are always jobs in the manufacturing sector which are hands-on training/learning experiences.
meanwhile, decide where you want to be in five years and make a plan. follow the plan. start your own door to door cleaning service. start your own internet dating service. blog your entire life, by livecamming it and charge a fee. write a best seller or dance and sing songs for money on the street corners. be your own circus and enjoy life!
hmm
then again, stealing and a life of crime may not be such a bad choice. i used to think it brought bad karma but now i'm not so sure. the way the american gov. is abusing my tax monies and has stolen my social security investment i'm starting to think stealing is the accepted standard. enron, haliburton they're all doing it, so why not us?? not to mention thieving is one of the 64 arts of the kama sutra. so all in all perhaps a robin hood lifestyle may be right for you. have you considered highway robbery of government supply trucks? just a thought. good luck

READ MY PREVIOUS POST!

Making excuses and looking for a get-rich-quick or a get-skills-quick plan is a waste of time. Skills come with hard work and education. Autistic or not, it just doesn't matter. Blind, deaf and every kind of handicap person are currently getting educations when they put their minds into it. Life is not easy and getting ahead in the world isn't either, understand that.

This is the last thing I have to say to you about this, so ignore it or respond to it, I'm trying to help you with the truth.

peace
