When I record from my VCR I always get this buzzing noise in the background. I cant seem 2 get it out, what can I do? What is causing the faint buzz?

So have you actually done some recording and it still sounds crap? If so how bad is the background noise? I've used it on some of my recorded vinyl and I now have mp3's that are far better sound quality than the vinyl from which they were recorded. The click/pop eliminator in Cool Edit is also great for getting rid of all those scratches (essential for my vinyl collection, although sadly it can do nothing for my America 12" which starts normally, gets to "Amer" in the first chorus, then thump, bang, screeeeetch, end of track.)

It could be a number of things. There is always a degree of sound degration on VHS tapes but there are factors that can improve the quality of the sound....

1) The tape. A poor quality cassette could mean poor quality sound.
2) The recording. If your tape was recorded on an old machine.
3) The VCR your playing back on.
4) Dodgy conection cables?
5) Short play and long play. A tape recorded in long play will contain poor quality sound.

My advice would be to try using someone elses VCR first, after that experiment at will, and even when you do find the best combination the chances are that the sound may still need some mastering done to it.

I've done this many times before, could I help?

Kamille, thanx 4 the info also. I think it may be the cables because Ieven when I try 2 record from DVD, TV or Playstation 2 it still gets it. One time it was perfect, but i put it in again and it still has that buzzing noise. It's cool though. Magiz Audio. Ima c about that . Thanx again!
