I also have a problem. Help please.

Hi everyone. I need to make a decision, would u help me out please.

I've been getting into debt a lot recently but it never lasts longer than a month (when i get my wages in.) I go about £100-£200 overdrawn each month, then i get my wages, pay the money, pay the fine, get left with very little after I’ve paid my rent and stuff and the circle continues month after month.

This month I've been spending very very little so i can get out of the trap of getting overdrawn and finned so i can start saving money. I really want to start saving for myself and because as I've said I've met someone truly amazing on line who i want to meet soon.

Now, a DVD has appeared on e-bay, it's an uncut version of one of my all time favourite films. This version of this DVD is rarer than the black album. Although the DVD is a genuine Warner bros DVD they released the wrong version and quickly pulled it off the shelves. I have a pirate video of it with no sound, I’ve downloaded the script, I really love it. I can buy it right now on e-bay, but it's £100 which will certainly get me back in the dept trap for another month. What shall I do. I rarely see this on e-bay and £100 is actually quite reasonable for it!

Should I get it?

I don't think that will be too much of a problem. My dad said that if I wanted to go on hols he'd pay for the flight. And I can't travel for a while anyway. It's a difficult time for her right now, and she said she might be visiting me soon. If it was a choice between her and the DVD ofcourse I'd want to see her.

But i supose we can have a better time with more money, and I really wanted to buy some guitars and new clothes?

Thanks for the advice though. I'm started to think that maybe I should let it go.

All a matter of priority.
Decide which you prefer (extra spending money for your trip or the DVD you may never have a chance to find again) and go for it.
Occasionally I have to re-prioritize my spending habits myself. I tend to spend money on lots of little things in life and never really go for the big purchases. For example, I have more books than I know what to do with and I eat out (with friends or alone) fairly often and I buy little treats for myself like a new purse or pair of shoes I may only use once or twice a year all the time. I also travel almost whenever I want to. I can't remember a time where I decided I wanted to go somewhere and I couldn't make it work financially. Yet my tv is over 20 years old and I can barely make out the picture sometimes cause its so dark, I still don't own a DVD player and up until 5 months ago, I didn't own a car for over 5 years.

I guess I'll wait a few days first and see in anyone else buys it, if not then I'll make a decision.

Don't give me too much credit. Occasionally I realize I've gone too far and end up eating Ramen noodles and Peanut Butter and Jelly for a week. But whatever I spent that money on, it was usually worth it.

Little shop of horrors (1986 version including the original directors ending that was changed by Warner brothers)

It's one of my all time faves. I've watched several times, I've watched it with running comentry, I've preached to many a person how it's was a modern Macbeth until Warner destroyed it, I've got shit quality pirates vids of it, I've got the soundtrack CD, I've got the script, I've got a few clip download. I love it, and if I buy this DVD I'll have the best quality release avalible so far...

Do you think you'll regret not buying it? How do you plan on spending that money otherwise; just to save it?
'Cause your friends don't dance, and if they don't dance... well, they're no friends of mine.

I've only ever seen it on e-bay once before and i did regret not buying it sometimes (about 8 months ago). I guess I'd regret it if this was the last ever time I see it, but I may see it again. Yeah, i need to start saving cos i'm hoping to do some traveling this month, and i want to start music lessons.

Yup! woot! It's nothing pretty or special, but it gets me around. And with the strike coming up I'll probably be driving a friend of mine to work each day next week.

I gotta agree. This is the kind of thing that can start with a DVD you want and can escalate to other, more extravagant issues.

You've described a cycle that you're just able to survive. But, what would happen if you lost your job? Life can go south in an instant, believe me.
