I enjoyed Shop Girl. Steve martin has a nice, relaxed writing style. I'm currently reading Me Talk Pretty One Day. David Sedaris has amazing wit. I think I saw the movie based on the Secret Life of Bees. Is that the period piece that's schockingly about incest? |

I absolutely loved 'the secret life of bees'! it was such a well done book even though i didn't like the use of the words prideful and pridefulness. isn't it proud and pride? anyway, other than that nitpicky complaint, that book is the best.
right now I'm reading 'the dante club' by matthew pearl. so far so good.

I just finished reading Mary Barton by Elizabeth Gaskell () on Monday and Dubliners by James Joyce the week before. Oh, and The sun also rises by Hemingway the week before that! I loved the book so much, I made my boyfriend read it as well. He dug it.
I'm going to start Tarr: the 1918 version next week ( 9s!) and hopefully kill off some of The Mill on the Floss by George Milton by Thursday, and finish some selected stories by Katherine Mansfield. She is GREAT! (p.s. school is making me nuts ) I mean, like, where is the sun?

I just remembered the movie I'm thinking of is Angels and Insects. There was a costume in the movie that reminded me of a bee, and the characters study an ant colony, I think that's where I was getting confused. |

I have two books I am reading now which sucks cause I keep getting all confused. Anyway I have to read them for my job, cause the suits in my corp office says they will make me a better manager. Umm ok I will humor them. One is titled how to win customers and keep them for life. and the other is titled good to great, how to make a good company great. Totally unexciting I know. But hey maybe it will make me a better person by reading them who knows. NOT that I am a bad person now

I recently finished Walter Mosely's "Bad Boy Brawly Brown," which got me in the mood for Denzel's "Devil in a Blue Dress." He was perfectly cast for the part of Easy Rawlins, and it's cool to imagine him being Easy in "Bad..."
I've begun Toni Morrison's "Tar Baby," continuing the TM kick I've been on for the past few months. So far, I've read "Sulah," "The Bluest Eye," "Song of Solomon" and "Jazz." After I finish this, I'll be reading "Beloved" and "Paradise."

I understand that! I am about to start another book, Leadership On The Line, which is on leadership development amidst all the conflict and such that can happen. It should be good for clergy--thats where I received the recommendation.....but it is a general leadership book, found in the business section.
