Has anyone here used one of these? I was kinda careless with my CD's when I first started collecting music, so a lot of them are scratched to the point they skip a lot and I was considering purchasing a Skip Doctor. But, there's a similar product out for Video Game disks that I've heard to avoid at all costs, so I was wondering if anyone here could attest to the quality (Or lack thereof) of the Skip Dr.

Someone told me that if you use windex on the cd.it will clean it up and stop the skipping.

I also know that if it's a true scratch that it can't be repaired, You'll be able to see it in the disc, though most cds are just dirty. Another tip alot of people seem to be oblivious of is, when storing you cd's outside the case lay them upside down (label down, shiny side up) this helps prevent a lot of damage when you're to lazy to put it back in the case.

And another thing!! don't stack cd's on top of each other outside of the case!! I can't stand that!!

If you alter the jitter correction and over-sampling buffer on your CD ripping software, sometimes you can successfully rip a non-jumping mp3 from a scratched CD.

the Skip Dr. works well...but i've found that you can take a bit of toothpaste on a soft cloth and gently 'buff' out those small surface scratches. something deeper would def require the 'Dr's' services tho

I tried one of those stupid 99 cent scratch repair kits they sell at music stores, and it made my CDs worse. Some of them come with an abrasive fluid that you apply first, then a polish you have to rub in to bring back the shine and clearness. I was careful as ever and followed the instructions to a tee and wound up with a CD that looked like it got hit by a sandblaster. Be careful.
