Movies: American Splendor and Stone Reader

Has anyone seen either of the following movies? I saw them recently and recommend them:

American Splendor

Stone Reader

I mention them together because they are oddly alike. American Splendor, for all you comic book geeks out there, is based on the life of Harvey Pekar, who wrote a comic book called American Splendor (which I haven't ever read), about an ordinary guy and his troubles and routines etc.

The other is a documentary about a guy's search for the author of a forgotten "Great American" novel called Stones of Summer. It's really about the director's love of books though. It's set in such exciting locales as the Special Collections section of the University of Iowa's library. Also, the reviews of the novel the movie takes as its subject, Stones of Summer, has some very entertaining reviews on Amazon! lmao

Seriously, both are wonderful films.

Rated "G" for geeky, so beware.

Anyone else see either of these?

glad you enjoyed your movies. this may sound jessica simpson stupid but i like watching movies that are either based on a book or about a book because then it gives me something to read.

I watched this movie last night called evrybody's famous. It was in Flemish with subtitles and it was about this factory worker who wants his daughter to become a famous singer. He enters her in all these contests and has her sing songs by Madonna, etc. but she always loses. So he kidnaps this famous singer and works out a starnge ransom with her record company. It's a cute movie with a nice ending but i'm glad that i got to see it for free.
