How did you meet your significant other?

When I observe people, sometimes it baffles me how they met -- or are ever going to meet -- a person compatible with them! Shyness, an intimidating appearance, the everyday rat race, an environment (like work or school) not given to romantic fraternizing -- all of these seem to be obstacles to making a real love connection. It's amazing our species reproduces!

So... How did you meet your current or past significant other? What were some of the things that made it a challenge, and how did you overcome them?

I met my signifigant other at work.. The challenge was more his.. I was engaged at the time.. We knew it was love at first sight. It sounds corny but it is true!

Cigarette machine at The Havanna !

But I had been spying on him for a while !
The challenge was that I thought he wouldn't be interested, while I thought he was the world !
...his thoughts were exactly the same... sigh

But that's all in the past

I was set up on a blind date with my ex-wife based on the fact we both were Edie Brickell fans!

At the time, I worked in a wrecka-sto, and she was told (I learned later) to come in and check me out. I saw her and asked if she needed help. She said "no," and seemed pretty mean about it!! Anyway, the next night, I went to my friend's house for dinner and the blind date, and THERE SHE WAS! It was really funny. I felt like I was being marketed, trapped and sold!

After dinner, we spent the evening playing a game where we convince each other of total lies (how ironic). I liked her, but I was WAY shy (not to mention a tad bit gay redface), so I didn't return her phone calls. She was persistent and eventually swept me away with her beauty and her mind. We've had to make some MAJOR adjustments in our relationship, but she remains my best friend and guardian angel. mushy

With a very special thank you to Tina: Is hammer already absolute, how much some people verändern...ICH hope is never so I will be! And if, then I hope that I would then have wen in my environment who joins me in the A....

I've known my significant for a long time, ever since I was born. I met her at the hospital when I was born. She never talks back, she's always down ever time I'm wanting to get some. The best part is she's always on my side and if someone wants to fight she's always there to defend me or take a swing.

I love left hand she's my bitch

Therapy

I was thinking of this the other day. From the age of 15-19, I was with Simon. From the age of 19-24, I was with Adam. I've not had a relationship that's lasted since and I'm 30. Although, I loved my son's Dad. I'd like a significant other, dunno that it'll ever happen though.

At a lecture given by a professor at work, the day she walked in that room changed my life. Three years later on the same date, I booked the same lecture theatre and proposed to her there.

I met my wife at work, it was her first day on the job...
being only 5'0" tall, with BIG hair, and it being her first
day, she really stood out to me.
She walked by me, I asked her name...
"Irene"
"Irene, do you have a boyfriend?"
"No"
"Do you want one?" shocked

That is NOT ME...i'm never that out front and open...
it just blurted out.
Anyways, it took a whole month of asking before she
finally agreed to a date.
Still happily married for 13 yrs.
Thanks for the laughs, arguments and overall enjoyment for the last umpteen years. It's time for me to retire from Prince.org and engage in the real world...lol. Above all, I appreciated the talent Prince. You were one of a kind.

I came over to Thailand travelling with my friend and met my future better half in a bar, talked some and I went on to New Zealand after 3 weeks or so.

I came back to the UK and stayed in touch with her by e-mail for a year and shortly after I came back we hooked up and we've been together ever since, which is nearly 3 years now.

Of course, we haven't actually been together physically all of that time because I've been in England quite a bit, but I've been over here teaching for the last 10 months so we've been living together.

Obstacles? Oh none, not for a middle-class English boy supposed to be thinking about university when he meets a Thai girl in a bar in Bangkok and tells his folks he's in love. big grin They loved that. Don't even start. Visas, culture clashes, missing friends and family- lots of obstacles and worries.

It was all worth it though. I held strong when many doubted me and thought it absurd and look at us now. nod

I was out with my boyfriend and he ran into his x girlfriend who was with her boyfriend. As soon as I saw her boyfriend we both looked at each other and we knew we wanted to meet. About a month later I went to a party with my boyfriend and they were there as well. When we had the moment to talk for only a few minutes he asked for my number and the rest is history.
