A Fallen Friend...(A strange twist EDIT)

This is what I wrote about my friend Matt a little over a month ago.
We lost touch in recent years...today I heard this news on the radio.

Matt married a girl he met working at a strip club. They were only
married for 2 months when he was shot. After the first month of
the marriage, Matt found out that his new bride was, in fact, a lesbian.
He immediately filed for divorce, apparently feeling he was married
under false pretences...then he was shot.
Now, his 'widow' is going to receive $350,000 from the city of Detroit,
which his family feels she is not entitled to. They want that money
to go to his estate, which they would oversee.
On a side note, she claims that she is being harassed by police officers,
who also feel she's not entitled.
This is gonna get messy....shocked

A few years ago I met Matt Bowens. I was managing a retail
store, and Matt was one of our evening, high school aged
employees. I've always prided myself on getting along so
well with the younger employees, maybe it was because we
shared alot of the same interests in music...but I found that
if you gave them respect they would respect you and, in the
end, would work for you too.
Matt and I hit it off right away...he was a big rap fan, especially
Tupac's music. We had countless hours of arguements over
how relivent Prince was as a musician...it's a tough sell, to the
younger crowd.lol.
Matt and I also shared a passion for boxing and basketball.
He was a trash-talker of the highest level, his game never quite
matching his mouth...lol.
After graduating HS, Matt decided to persue law enforcement.
He took the test and became a Detroit Police Officer...what he
always wanted to be.

Sunday evening, Matt and his partner, during a routine traffic
stop, were killed when the driver open fired on them.
Matt's partner was shot while Matt was running the driver's license.
He then took off after the suspect, radioing for help...that was
the last time Matt was heard from....He was 21 years old.

pray sad

hug Thanks 4 the prayers...he came from a great family, I'm
sure they appreciate all the warm thoughts of their son.

On a side note, his partner, a female, was only 26 yrs old.
The gunman was 23yrs old. Such a sad ending for all involved.

God save our YOUTH...

No, mere coincidence that they were divorcing...
The shooter was a thug kid who didn't want to
get caught...he did.
