ARGHHHHH

Do you ever feel like you uncondcously gave up to much of your life for your career. Today I was thinking about this with my whirlwind promotion and my boss being gone again. I sometimes feel like my life has flahsed before my eyes and before I know it, I am semi married to my job. Sure I got out with my friends when they are not all my boyfriend this my boyfriend that rolleyes . But shit I would like some more free time damnit. I dunno maybe I am tired and crabby, but I feel like I have lost out on some things in life. Am I nuts

I am scheduled for 40 but it usually ends up being anywhere from 50 to 60

Unless you enjoy it or this is a short term situation (working overtime), I think you need to "set your boundaries" so that you only work 40. The hard part is saying "no" when you're asked to work later/longer, though...

I kinda have to do it now with my boss being gone...Some of my employees are dumb as fuck...the rest do not listen to a word I say...I wrote 2 of them up today...they think I am not going to be a hard ass like my little bro who went to our store in MPLS ( I took his job). I think they realize that now...but shit babysitting 18 and 19 year olds wears me the fuck out.

Did your employer get you to sign a work agreement, or anything to the affect saying that you must work these long hours?

I don't think so. And it's not you problem if it does when you're not there.

Either:

--Delegate better to your staff (make them do it right)
--Hire better qualified staff
--Work your normal (fewer) hours and let the store suffer a bit till your boss comes back

Or:

--Put in the long hours just till he gets back
