I quit my job today.

yup i did.

see work has been giving me the runaround for a while now and they were prepared to keep doing so - they have had me doing my job and my ex-boss's job for the past month. well, i gave them exactly a month to either install me in the boss's job or find me an assistant cuz i have been one streesed out kitty this past month.

anyway, we had our meeting today (exactly a month ago i was quasi-promoted) and they told me a whole pack of lies to my face (me not saying a word) and they decided that they were going to continue with the arrangement that we had going. they asked me what i thought and i immediately pulled my resignation letter out of my back pocket: BLAM!.

my general manager didn't know what to do. the look on his face was of pure horror . see now he's in the shit cuz there is no one to replace me. they have to get someone but the department will still be upside - even with someone new. my boss above me quit cuz she went mental with stress and now it's my turn.
anyway, he said that he didn't want to accept my resignation. i told him tough. if he wants me to stay he needs to get the employees priorities right and not take the piss. i told him that i have done all i could do to save the venue and my department and i really could not do anymore. i was thru doing the company favours.
he was so lost for words. he said that he would sleep on it (meaning my decision to resign) then get back to me tomorrow.

i'm so glad i made this decision. i feel lighter now. i still have a ringing headache tho. the stress of this job has been really bad and i just couldn't take it anymore.

Bermuda, here i come!! sun

Congratulations on quiting that job. Enjoy your time off.

I can relate to how stress make someone feel really miserable and exhausted. I'm multitasking at my job right now and working unpaid overtime... sometimes 15 hours a day or putting 20 hours on the weekend, & having to do multiple roles and responsibilities at the company... its overwhelming. I wish I could afford to quit right now, playing art director, designer, account manager and translator is really draining the heck out of me! Its really unhealthy.

yes it is. i don't mind working my ass off but when i get absolutely not one iota of thanks, recognition or help and then the company decides to keep up the charades, well them you can kiss my pasty white ass.

Heavenly

I did the same thing 3 years ago. My boss wanted to pay me less. I said 'no'. he then said he can't afford me, so I said 'ok, goodbye'. 15 minutes after the meeting was over he told me, 'ok, I'll let you stay with the same sallery' lol .
One year later I quit, when he stopped paying on time, and I just realized he's getting himself in lots of debts.
Now I hear that the people who are still working there, haven't been paid in over 6 months omfg , and he told them that he's willing to pay they evrything he owes, if they'll give him a 20% discount lol .
oh, and I not only quit the job, I also got 4 months extra payment, cuz I wanted to sue his ass, but we settled for a little less outside the court room.
