my advice...DONT!
ATRAC music compression in inferior to other methods of compression. even MP3 is better than ATRAC!!! my advice to you would be to buy a portable mp3/wma... player. i.e. iPod, Creative Muvo etc... but dont, for the love of god, buy a minidisc player - it's redundent technology - i know, i have one ![]()

i assume the computer you are on now aint yours? or dont have acess to frequently??? anywho, even if you do get a minidisc player (NetMD capbable) you would still need a computer to transfer files to it if you want to add more than 80 minutes of music to the disk. you also have to check if the cd player where you will be copying from has an "optical out" line to transfer to the MD player. you can transfer without one, but the quality will be like the old tapes ![]() so, if you dont have a computer, i guess MD is the only option, but only if your CD player has an optical out

I like my MD player...mine hooks up to my computer and comes with pretty decent burning software, and I think the sound is great. I was veering toward an mp3 player at first, but I like the idea of storing five-hour playlists on discs instead of having everything in "liquid" form. I love the size, too - very easy to stash in a coat pocket.
