In fact, I can't remember at all, but I know u haven't changed your username in all the time I've been on the org so ur easy enough to recognise on here. I was more than likely using the name bkk1981, sawatdiikhrap, SuperiorTe or some other nonsense.

I know how to read and write - I just don't know what most of the words mean My main motivation to learn was so I could tell and avoid the evil bus 38s that dumped me on the wrong side of Anusawaree on the way to work. How's your Singha going? I haven't started my Carlsburg yet - just recovering from a quick ride along the beach. Life it ain't real funky unless you got that orgPop.

My speaking skills are pretty good (ie. much better than your average farang) since I talk with the taxi drivers every day. I learnt to write the consonants and the numbers but gave up shortly after. Perhaps I should try again? It would be good to be able to read signs and stuff, and be able to read and pronounce words, even if I wouldn't know what half of them mean! I have half a glass of Singha left. It's ok, just a double lesson tomorrow with the P1s and it's the weekend again. Barbecue over at my Aussie brother-in-law's (Mon's sister's husband) place Friday night. That's when I'll be drinking a lot of beer and playing PS2.

For one I'm just not good at getting the right sound coming out of my mouth, and for two the only person I speak to in Thai, my wife, speaks in broken Thai so I understand, and I never pick up new or correct vocab. Writing Thai is brilliant for doodling, especially in dull office meetings. It's good to know for the phonetics, if you can't hear what the tone is just ask somebody to write it down and there you have it An Aussie party, sounds grouse! I'd prefer to speak Thai here rather than have Thais try to speak English with me. I like it that way around so I try to speak as much as I can. I'm pretty good now since I talk with my wife's parents and brothers and sisters all the time. I think I'll give the writing and reading another shot. I know what u mean about the doodling. I like to doodle the numbers everywhere. Yeah, the barbecue's going to be great. I tried my best to pick up Thai from the teachers at my school, and from a friend who didn't speak any English but spoke amazingly clear Thai. I don't know my written numbers! I've got this theory about Beer Chang in Singapore: it's Carlsburg. The English-label export 'Beer Chang' comes from the same factory as Singapore's Carlsburg (in Thailand), they're both the same strength (5%) and I can't tell the difference in a taste test. Chang is a dollar cheaper though, and that's appreciated. Life it ain't real funky unless you got that orgPop.
