The Org isn't a religious or professional order. If a racist comes to the Org, the only thing that can be expected is that he/she not make racist comments here. The same goes for comments about other Orgers. Matt and Handclaps can't go around checking if people behaved according to the Org's rules outside the Org. Maybe there are some very serious instances where they'd ban someone for extra-Org activities, but complaining about an Orger or the Org somewhere else, secretly or publicly, shouldn't be one of them. If someone truly gets the whole Org offended, he/she will not fare well and will probably end up leaving or being banned. If he/she turns out to be on his/her best behavior, then those of you who still can't forget and forgive can ignore his/her threads. I think that's pretty reasonable... and far less complicated than getting into the business of considering what goes on outside this site. Things go wrong when its so easy to link between the two sites. It sorta changes the meaning of "here" and "there." It's a blur.  Does it change the meaning of the posts, being able to click between 'here' and 'there'? Or is it just because suddenly you're out of the fishbowl? | |

First of all, why you are posting private correspondences from org members is beyond me. But since you did, let's see what we have here. It is a pickle. But when you are "here," and you insult or facilitate others' insults of people you know over "there," and then you go over "there," and you get hostility from people who heard that you were "here" when others posted stuff about those people "there," it tends to get blurry. I pass no judgment on any quaidbowlers (yourself included) tho I have choice opinions about a few of them (yourself excluded), but as I see it, y'all caused the situation to be ripe for confusion. That's a fair argument, Aero, but my point is, no one on that site should feign surprise at the indignation or unfavorable opinions of a lot of orgers. It's not like the Org is censored, it simply asks people to express whatever opinions they want to within certain parameters of bottom-line decency. In any event, many of the quaidbowlers weren't banned for indecent activity. They simply didn't like the fact that a lot of orgers didn't AGREE with them. This post was to argue that it's pointless to try to ban someone for what they say elsewhere. The moderator's decisions must be based on what happens here -- the alternative is too complicated and besides, if it's so bad there will be reasons to end it one way or another through the natural theory of Org selection. I'm not sure I care a great deal about why Quaidbowl was created - I was curious, but seriously... it's not like I was looking forward to more Chemmie threads or was dying to side with the Banned and the Departed for some bitter reminescing. | |
