I think what bothers me the most about this situation is that if someone considers somebody a friend how could they even say something so rude, joking or not ya know the old saying (friends dont let friends drive drunk) well friends to stab someone in the back and then says they're sorry.

Second, I'm questioning why he should be allowed to air his case while C is gone.

And third: Why should he have a forum when last summer when all this shit went down with Ice (the Exodus etc), all of our threads explaining our cases were snipped, locked, or deleted, and members were deactivated left and right. The only thing I'm gonna say about this is hear him out and let him at least explain his intention with the site. People are painting this as if he sent invitations that read "Hey, come join this site so you too can make fun of Niggers, Kikes, Spics and Fags". There was no premise to the site other than banned orgers were there. I was curious to find out their side of the story on why they were banned and although I tend to see the very valid issues involved in why they were banned, I was curious to find out their side of it.

true, ya'll should've at least been allowed to speak yall's piece...i'm guessin the reason why ian was shuttin folks up left and right was because some of you were totally gettin hot-headed and actin up while ya'll were tellin your stories. others fell into the mix and shit was poppin off left and right, so ian started shuttin things down in order calm stuff down.

I would also say that I am a firm believer in the concept of the "marketplace of ideas." Places like the org are meant to accommodate more than one viewpoint, so I have no problem with any ideas or opinions being exchanged or debated here. Nor do I have a problem with any orgers who have been banned or choose to leave setting up their own forum to dialogue. It's a free country.

But when the content of the site consists of racist comments disguised in the sheep's clothing of "political incorrectness," or malicious comments or insults about other orgers in a group forum, or complaints about the org, and the members take great pains to exclude other viewpoints from the conversation, that doesn't appeal to me at all and I don't have much respect for such an enterprise.

On the other hand, the quaidbowl illustrates why I like the org. If you want to discuss a thought or a gripe, any orger can get their in so long as (s)he keeps a modicum of respect. Wanna go to battle with an orger? You can as long as you don't get out of line. Whoever said this place was politically correct ain't payin' attention. And most orgers are very slow to accuse people of any "ism" (racism, sexism, anti-semitism, etc.), so I fail to see why the "quaidbowlers" complain. And finally, the fact that people don't agree with you doesn't damn the enterprise. Heck, I am a black Catholic who loves jazz and votes Democratic. I have been offended in EVERY forum I have ever visited in this place but I accept that this is a big tent and I take the good with the bad. Don't like P/R? Stick to the Non-Prince Music forum. And so on. There's plenty to like here. But you have to do or say some REALLY REALLY bad things to get banned from this site, and those who can't abide by the rules aren't entitled to be here.

I say to teller and the quaidbowlers (many of whom I get along with and still plan to get along with): if you insult your consumers behind their back when you're in another market and they find out about it, you shouldn't be surprised if you get put on blast when you come back. Some, like me, may try to cut you a little slack, and view each of you on what you actually said and did. But don't be surprised if many others don't. Can't say I blame them, especially those like cborgman, hull and others who were victims of crass insults and were given no chance to defend themselves.

You can't be very confident in your opinions if you don't give those who are being talked about a chance to respond.
