No apologies here. The content of that site doesn't reflect the opinions of everyone anymore than it does here. Besides, I know there's plenty of Orgers who talk about other orgers "behind their back". The difference is that they don't generally use a website to do so.

And since I engaged in none of it, then I guess you can all consider this my non-apology. smile

I think the difference between that quaid site and this one, is that

(1) the persons posting there were asked to keep it a secret
(2) some of them (you apparently were not one) laughed along or contributed to the commentaries there, only to come back here and act otherwise

Anyone who went along, and then maintained the silence... that suggests some degree of agreement.

It depends why they joined. Was it simply to talk to old friends? I know that was my intention. I've always enjoyed debating Teller and other libertarians. I saw Supa and Ian -- I really like those guys. Just because some of the comments were prejudiced doesn't mean everyone agreed. If you've ever spent time on Usenet, you are used to all sorts of opinions. There or on the Org, my rule has always been to protest or ignore the worst topics. I'd love to protest every single thread or comment I don't like, but there's not enough time in the day. Since I was only a member for two hours before the site got outed, we can hardly analyze what I supposedly tolerated, but if I had been a member for a longer period, I don't think that would make me guilty of agreeing. That's a very simplistic view of how people use discussion board. It's like saying that because I post here on the Org, I totally dig everything that goes on, right down to the most puerile tipics.

I care least of all about the Org gossip, having had my share of that a long time ago. People talk about other Orgers all the time, and personally I'm not interested. To give you an idea, I was asked about a certain Orger three weeks ago, privately. Before that, I don't think I had any convo about any Orger in over a year. I just don't enjoy these discussions, but people will talk and gossip -- it's not that serious and goes on all the time. Is it pleasant? No but that's people for you -- assessing and critiquing each other when the right people are around. This time, it was done on a website instead of a chat or via emails.

I've always had respect for you. Orgers do engage in talking about others behind their backs, I know this. Only this time the comments are there for all to see. Dont you think it's a good idea to know who your friends are, rather than living in ignorance as to what your so called friends really think of you. That is the only positive thing thing has come out of this whole episode- The truth.

Sometimes the truth hurts...but i'll take it over lies any day.

That's a good topic. If you had the chance to somehow gain the power to know everything that's said about you all the time, would you take it? Personally, I'd pass. In fact, due to my disabilities, I'm extremely ill-equipped to find out what people say. The same disabilities can create all sorts of false impressions that get people talking. Knowing how superficial people can be, I'd rather not know every comment made on me. Chalk it to a lifetime of dealing with pettyness and ignorance. I focus on proving potential rumors/prejudices wrong through my actions and accomplishments. Let'em talk I say... and if you must confront it, then pick your battles, because there will never be a shortage of meatyness and pettyness.

Sometimes it confronts you, through no choice of your own, and this is what happened. You are right though, let em talk...there is no shortage of cruelty, but when it lands on your doorstep, you deal with it.

Exactly. Well said as usual Lleena.
