POP princess Britney Spears is being tipped to follow in the footsteps of Halle Berry and Ursula Andress to become the next Bond girl.

Spears recently met in London with the producers of the James Bond movie series to discuss a role in the next film, according to reports.

A source close to the singer revealed: "Britney's desperate to carve out a name for herself as an actress and loves the idea of being a Bond girl.

"She's in great shape and thinks she'd be brilliant. Britney has seen what it's done profile wise for Halle Berry and she wants a slice of the action."

Britney's debut acting role in Crossroads received mixed reviews from film critics.

The star is also set to produce and star in an adaptation of author Tobi Tobin's Door to Door, in which she will play a teenager trying to catch her big break in Hollywood.
