Kidney Stones Suck!! The pain is crazy. Seriously, I am sooo not a baby when it comes to pain, but this had me praying to God last night as I drove to the ER...
Now I have to drink lots of water, pee through a filter to catch the damn thing when the stone comes out, and take percocet for the pain. Not to mention, the pharmacist ("Lamont") who was on at 3am when I got the prescriptions filled, yelled out to the place that the percocet "COULD MAKE YOU CONSTIPATED, SITTING ON THE THRONE ALL NIGHT" Anybody else go through this? How long does it take to pass through?!

I was reading some info on it this morning, and apparently people who've been through kidney stones and other medical traumas say the pain is WORSE than delivering a baby or a gunshot wound, etc.

Oh jeez! That sucks. Get lots of rest and take care of yourself. Get someone you love to look after you until you're better. Drink a lot of cranberry juice or green tea to help cleanse you more quickly.

I thought you had to be real old or something to get them. Ooooh, you little shit! Actually, I was reading that they're most likely to occur in those aged 20-40, and usually to guys. Maybe it's gallstones that older folks tend to get?

Peeing through a special little netted paper filter requires some mad skillzzz, boyeee! I'm supposed to take the 'stone' to my doctor Monday so they can analyze it and see if it's one of the kinds that you can modify your diet to help avoid the situation in the future. Too much info, probably, huh?

Thanks, sweety! Believe it or not, they recommend that a person with a kidney stone only sleep/go to bed at normal times rather than take it too easy, because staying active helps the stone to pass.

I really hope it will come out by itself, because if it doesn´t you will have to go through one of two things (from what I´ve heard):
1. Either they will crush the stone with some sort of soundwaves. This is apparently the least painful option. 2. Or they will insert a special kind of metal rod into your urethrea all the way to the source of the problem. I read that Napoleon had to go through procedure number two back in the day. So bearing in mind that he probably (even though he is a small man ) has a longer way to go for the rod than you do and that this was done long before x-ray or even sane doctors, I´d say you can at least feel that some people have been worse off... Don´t trust me on anything on the above though (except for the part about Napoleon which I know for sure), it is only what I´ve heard from others. Most likely they have made progress in this field since I heard talk about it.

How long did it take for yours to pass through, garganta? well, it has just happened to me once like two years ago, I woke up in the middle of the night feeling the most strange and terrible pain...my dad drove me to the hospital inmediately and there I had to take two types of drugs...thankfully these drugs are very efficient and the pain disappeared very shortly have you gone to the hospital already? they have to cut the pain for you, it´s really unbearable

The bigguns are usually the ones that need the options you're talking about. I guess the size of the stone isn't what determines how bad the pain is, though, it's due to the walls of the tubes that go from the kidney to the bladder are spasming and trying to get the damned thing out!

They stuck in an IV and then some pain meds, which helped incredibly!!
