I Just Saw The Movie "Monster"

starring Charleze Theron and i wondered why i feel sympathy for a coldblooded killer. Can a persons life be so fucked up from the start that you can justify evil acts?

It's not so much justify as understand.

I saw that movie too, and it (pardon the pun) blew me away. I know everyone's saying it to death, but if Theron doesn't get an Oscar for that movie, there's gonna be something seriously wrong.

She completely tranformed. I didn't reconize her. I think there was one scene for a second where i could tell it was her, but 99% of the time it could have been the actual woman who commited the crimes(theron played it that well).

I've heard that this movie is amazing but I'm a little scared to see it. I'm afraid it'll get into my head and depress me for months.

I don't really think of Monster the way I do about other movies about killers and other criminals...it's not really a suspense movie or a flick that's gory and violent just for the sake of being provocative. It's very emotionally generous in that it wants the audience to understand how a person like Aileen Wuornos could possibly exist, and it does a really good job of making you empathize with her without necessarily excusing her actions. It's just a really amazing character portrait, and it changed my whole perception of Charlize Theron from ditzy blonde bimbo to acting genius. I'm really looking forward to whatever she does next.

that's exactly why it would depress me because it shows how this fucked up world can create such a monster.
