Earworm!

I just heard this expression. Basically it means any song that gets in your head that you can't get out, usually with an annoying effect. Being that I constantly have some song in my head (either one I know, one I'm writing or one that's writing itself), I guess I have an incurable case of earworm. What are yours lately?

I'd have to go with the current song by The Darkness, Milkshake by Kelis and Toxic by Britney (in a good way).

Ever since I heard "Stumbling In" Suzi Quatro and Chris Norman for the first time in ages a few days ago, I've been hearing it in my head. It doesn't really annoy me, I kinda dig it. biggrin

But I hate the phrase "earworm"...ill

Yeah. It makes the bad songs you can't get out of your head all the more disgusting. barf

Oh, for a moment, I thought someone else had seen this really creepy episode of "Night Gallery." It was about this creature called the Ear Wig, and apparently was the precursor to that creature in "Star Trek II: The Wrath of Khan..." I caught this "Night Gallery" episode as a kid, and it's spooked me ever since.

I know they do, but they don't burrow into people's ears and brains. They're fans of dark, dank dwelling spaces, like basements.

I sound the expert, but only because I just finished looking for links to that "Night Gallery" episode. It was titled, "The Caterpillar."

Earwigs do actually burrow into people's ears. Had
many cases of this when I worked in the ER.

Sounds like my brains would be ideal for them.
