You'd eat steaks from a decomposing whale carcass?

hopefully there weren't any passers-by on the side of the street where the whale guts hit... that'd be horrible, you're walkin down the street when you look at the road and see the whale on the truck...you'd be all like, "whoa! that's a lotta fish!" then all the sudden...
booommm!!! | |

Everyone in that street in Taipei is probably pregnant right now. When I read about the evils of drinking, I gave up reading.

Question: A dead, rotting whale was beeing toted on a truck! Didn't anyone -- even for a moment -- consider wrapping the thing up? ...For health reasons? For sheer tact? Who wants to look over on the road and see a rotting 50-foot whale in the lane next to them!? And we thought cell phones were distracting! ..And can you just imagine the smell!?!? ROTTING WHALE ORGANS!!! By wrapping the whale the decomposure would go faster ! Sperm whales are known for finding there food (usualy large squid) in extreme depths, 2000 metres seems no problem for them. By no longer being in his natural 'gravity' enviroment (water) presure probably was to much on the intestines. Interesting case to studie though !! I would love to know what that belly contained and from how deep it came.. Since we still do not know much from the extreme depth of the sea, an animal like this provides great insight of deep sea. I front sometimes, but U know, this is as quiet as it's kept...
Listen, I just gotta get outta here, that's all

Hey, Bluesy!! You make a good point about wrapping hastening the decomposition, but how long did they anticipate the trip would take? I wonder if they could maybe have wrapped AND refrigerated it. Also, because whales' bodies are much too large and heavy to be supported outside the pressure of deep ocean, maybe some sort of wrapping would have offered a small bit more support -- kind of like a girdle? I think it also has to do with the costs, the investigating institution prob. doesn't have the budget to do something like that !! -enloerequestededit- [This message was edited Fri Jan 30 7:48:35 PST 2004 by Blueview] I front sometimes, but U know, this is as quiet as it's kept...
