Info on the new Batman flick

Well, if we weren't well and truly hornswoggled. There we were, along with everyone else on the Internet, fervently discussing the latest developments on Christopher Nolan's Batman: Intimidation, while the folks at Warner Bros were chuckling mirthfully behind their hands. An official release now reveals that Intimidation was never the true moniker for Batman's fifth outing and was simply a ruse to throw fans off the trail.

Batman: Intimidation and Batman: The Intimidation Game have both been used to describe the film but these were apparently just code words used to describe the project. Staying true to its subject matter as a story behind the origins of the caped crusader, the film will in fact be known as Batman Begins, keeping it very much in the same vein as the franchise's previous film titles.

Neeson Confirmed As Batman Villain

Irish actor Liam Neeson will join the cast of the new Batman movie - as the caped crusader's nemesis. The Love Actually star has signed a deal to play villain Ra's Al Ghul, an international terrorist bent on destroying Gotham City, in Batman: Intimidation. Another addition to the cast - which already boasts the talents of Christian Bale, Katie Holmes and Sir Michael Caine - is Shawshank Redemption veteran Morgan Freeman. He will play Lucius Fox, "a respected businessman and the Chief Executive Officer of billionaire Bruce Wayne's Wayne Enterprises based in Gotham City." The movie is being directed by Memento film-maker Christopher Nolan.

Batman Turning British?

Batman is becoming British after director Christopher Nolan has been given the go-ahead to reinvent the American character in new movie Batman: Intimidation. The Memento film-maker wants to freshen up the superhero, who has so far featured in four modern day features, and has decided to give Batman and his American playboy alter-ego Bruce Wayne a more 'James Bond' feel. Brit Christian Bale is playing the lead role with English veteran actor Sir Michael Caine and Irishman Cillian Murphy are also signed up, and now Nolan has added Bond veterans, costume designer Lindy Hemming and special- effects guru Chris Corbould to the crew. Warner Bros's production head Jeff Robinov says, "Chris is reintroducing Batman and it feels smart cool and fresh. That's no disrespect to the other movies, but it's really Chris' vision of Batman and that's what we're supporting."

I say bring Michael Keaton back. He´s the only one so far who´s been able to portray Bruce Wayne as the dark and tormented soul that he is in the original comic books.

I was shocked at how great Michael Keaton was. He's definitely been the best so far. Probably too old now.

Keaton was the best, so far, but even he missed some important facets of the Batman character (probably because Burton didn't completely get him either). The Burton bat-flicks were decent, but hardly the perfect films that many folks unfamiliar with the Batman comics think they are. Many of the things that Keaton's Batman did were just not in keeping with the mythos of the character (guns on the Batmobile, Batman dropping bombs in buildings, killing henchmen, etc).

Kilmer was good with the physicality of the role, but really didn't have the pathos that is needed for the character (it didn't help much that he had a bad script). Clooney could have been good, had he not been in the worst of the series (and one of the worst films ever). He had a terrible script, and a director who desperately wanted to turn it into a campy, homo-erotic music video. Not really his fault, but I do think he probably could have made a decent Batman, had he been in a good movie.

The Goyer script that Nolan is filming is much more faithful to the comic, and I think Christian Bale is an excellent choice to play the Dark Knight. We may finally have someone who can capture the disturbed psyche of Batman, as well as the billionaire playboy facade of Bruce Wayne. The rest of the cast sounds fantastic (looks like we'll finally see Gordon done right), and it features one of Batman's best villians with Ra's Al Ghul.

Christian Bale had that down when he played Patrick Bateman, wink

nod in many ways, that role is the flipside of Bruce Wayne. What could have happened if he hadn't decided to channel his anger in a positive way. Can't wait to see him as the Bat!! He's so gonna own that role!

I read where the guy that played the protagonist in "28 Days Later" is in this flick portraying The Scarecrow, Dr. Marvin Crane (if that was his name).

Of course, this was the imdb , so anybody could've put that.

Scarecrow wouldn't be a bad idea. I remember back in 98 they had "Batman 5" already planned out with Jeff Goldblum and Kevin Spacey possibly playing Scarecrow, and

Madonna

as Harley Quinn. That woulda been interesting.

Stupid, but interesting.
