Unexpected expenses Ok, so I take my car in today for an oil change and I discover when I get there that, by golly, I have a flat tire. This makes my second flat in two months. So I figure, 'ah, well. I spend $60 for the maintenance deal and a tire patch."
THEN I mention that my car keeps doing some weird stalling when I reach 45 mph...and I'm told that my wiring in my spark plugs are bad and need replacing. My tally at this point is about $375. With me still? OK, so I let out a sigh and a grumble but swallow it... THEN...I'm told that my tire must be replaced since I have an impact bubble thanks to these pothole-laced Michigan roads. So add on a new tire to that bill. Final total? $459!!! Fuck it. I laid out the cash... OK, now I've shared with you my tale of woe. YOUR turn, snapperheads. Ever gone in for something you think's gonna cost a FEW bucks...only to leave having paid A LOT of bucks? [This message was edited Mon Jan 26 16:31:38 PST 2004 by DudeDrops]

Yeah, one day I innocently went in and bought Purple Rain for like $12.99.
Here I am 20 years later living in a refrigerator box.

changing spark plugs is really easy, provided you have a geezer car, or can at least see them when you open your hood. it will save you some dough.

There's the problem. I have a 99 Ford Contour--the kind with the steel plate over the engine. And to address someone's earlier comment--I CAN change my own oil...but NOT when there's 4 inches of snow on the ground and it's 5 degrees outside!
