The one thing that cracks me up about these groups is that they truly believe in their convictions but refuse to discuss them. If you are right, why would you be afraid to share the truth?

A lot of initiated secret societies believe that the masses can't handle -- or would mishandle -- "the truth." You could think of it as akin to why the U.S. uses an electoral college, or why most organizations have some hierarchy of authority.

Has anyone read The Da Vinci Code? Very interesting read. Lots of talk about secret societies. My uncle was a Mason, but he would never tell us anything. He would just smile and say he's not allowed to speak of anything the Mason do. rolleyes

I know Masons, Rosicrusians, etc., like this too. A lot of their information has been circulated in books you can occasionally find. One of the most prolific authors of this kind of stuff is Manly P. Hall.

These works are interesting reading, touching on everything from ancient religion and mystical analyses of history to architecture, mathematics and economics.

Regarding their authenticity, though, you have to take them as you will. As the speculative saying goes: "Those who know don't tell; and those who tell don't know."
