Show me something nice from your neighbourhood...

Why don't you post a pic of a local landmark? Anything will do. A local landmark, your favourite watering hole, record shop or even your street.

I'll get the ball rolling with this:-

It's Castle Hill and you can see it from my window. It's on a really high hill and overlooks the town of Huddersfield.

Sorry Markk, you'll have to do Emley Moor mast!

OK, I'll pinch wholesale from the site I got the pic from:-

"Perched on a steep hill overlooking the northern industrial town of Huddersfield in the Kirklees area of West Yorkshire, the imposing structure of the Victoria Tower was built to celebrate the 60th anniversary of Queen Victoria's reign, and was completed in 1899.

From Castle Hill and the Victoria Tower (which is only opened to the public on certain days of the year) there are superb views across the Holme Valley to Holmfirth and Holme Moss to the south (marking the northern boundary of the Peak District National Park), the Emley Moor transmitter to the east (a concrete communications tower which is Britain's tallest free standing stucture), and the sprawling industrial mass of the towns of Huddersfield and Brighouse to the north"

There's more pics there too at http://www.bronte-country...-hill.html

Oh, that place has seen plenty in it's time! whistling

There was a pub almost next to it until recently but it has structure problems so they had to tear it down to build it again with a steel frame. They're hoping to have it open for Easter.
