Calling all children of the 80s!

I was 5 in 1980 and I am watching the VH-1 overplayed "I love the 80s" but i swear I see this stuff and it makes me depressed-I so yearn to be back in the early 80s again--no cares in the world, space invaders, "V" the mini-series, birth of the 1st commercial Madonna album, E.T., Pac-Man, Empire Strikes Back, Return of the Jedi, Thompson twins, Duran Duran, Flashdance, Facts of Life, MTV with NINA BLACKWOOD AND ALAN HUNTER!! I could go on and on...I miss those days and want to be a child again...

Nostalgia ain't what it used to be.

Always look forward, don't look back. Otherwise, you'll get sooo depressed.

Yep, those were the days...

If I went back in time as the person I am today I´m not sure if I would fit in in the 80´s anymore though. Í don´t wear white jeans or pink t-shirts, I don´t think Reagan´s and Gorbatjov´s friendship is the best thing that´s happened in world politics, I can now solve Rubick´s cube instead of take out my aggression on it and take it apart with a knife, I now feel like puking when I see American "high school sex comedies" and I don´t think the world would perish if Michael jackson never made an album again.

But it was all good back then.

I LOVE these thread! woot!

  • President Benjamin Hayes signs the Chinese Exclusion Treaty.

  • Kansas Governor John St. John forces through prohibition legislation, making Kansas the first state in the nation to "go dry."

  • Sitting Bull returns from Canada with a small band of followers to surrend er to General Alfred Terry.

  • Tombstone, Arizona, Deputy Marshall Wyatt Earp and his brothers gun down the Clantons in a showdown at the O.K. Corral.

  • Texas purchases The Alamo from the Catholic Church to preserve it as an historic shrine. [Editorial comment from 2the9s: Oh dear.]

  • A fare war between competing rail lines and the inducements of eager land speculators bring newcomers to Los Angeles by the trainload; 120,000 arrive in 1887, drawn by the promise of pure air, warm sunshine and prosperity. Within a few years, the city is transformed and the Californios who have lived there for more than a century are suddenly regarded as strangers in their own land.

Those were the days my friend! cry

Oh wait. You mean the 1980s? confused
