Org politics, gossip and bust-ups

confuse

Why is it that some people seem to know about all the latest rumours, bust-ups and deactivations and others don't? The people who are here less appear to be the people who know more.

Granted, I don't read every thread so perhaps that's why I always feel a little behind in the information loop. And I tend to just visit the GD Forum which, again, could be a mistake.

But I still can't get over how much more some people seem to know about the place than I do ... particularly as when I'm here, I'm here all the time.

So, is there some secret Org Underground I don't know about, where rumours get Orgnoted to one another, or a secret Org Society of some sort that I haven't been invited to join? And what makes threads disappear?

I'm opening up the Org Files as I'm sure there's something mysterious going on ... wink

i sumtimes wonder how some people find out who you are under a different name?
a couple of people have come on here as different user names (just to go on the website to avoid confrontation in the first place) and they get found out. it's as if someone is intentionally looking to find out who people are and someone is telling them.

Teacher

It's not very hard to look up the IP of an individual visitor if u have the skills. I don't have them but I know people who do, and who would. And do. That's how they know the multiple accts, unless the user's too stupid and gets found out anyway.

Is it really THAT important to know? shrug

no not really.
i just guess if the person who has the multiple accts starts messing about in the Org then i guess ppl are going to be curious. but still i know of a couple of people who were just logging on under different names just to have a peaceful look at the Org and they get found out. they weren't even looking for trouble.

You are correct and those are very good points but one more to add would be what about those who surf the internet without thier IP showing. What about those who have their IP re-routed. Here is one for Ice Nine (I can't believe I'm even saying this) Go buy Ghost Surf. The stronges pop up blocker, spy ware destroyer and suring the net by re-routing your IP.
It's got it's issues because it's so powerful that times you can't even surf because it blocks the whole internet but if you learn how to use it we'll it's a very powerful tool.

I've learned to stay out of the gossipy side of message boards. Sure, it would be nice to know what's going on, but only some of the time. If you try to follow these things, suddenly you feel like you're sitting on the old men's bench in a Corsican village.

I guess it's a good thing ... but I do feel stupid sometimes as I'm the one who's always asking "what happened?", "who are you talking about?", "what did I miss?" ... I'm glad there are a few others who don't have a clue too biggrin
