What's your most treasured possession?

Valuable or not, what is the one thing (not living) you'd really miss if you didn't have it anymore?

I don't own any objects that have irreplaceable sentimental value to me - only things that have utilitarian value, and can be replaced or taken away.

My cat.

I don't exactly own her, but she's the first thing I'd grab if my apartment started burning down.

jeez doesn't anyone read? lol

the reason I said "not living" is that I didn't want a string of responses about the person or animal closest to you ... I was wondering whether any of you had a possession that was precious to you.

ok?

right ... let's start again biggrin

I have three:

Like Chris, the first are my photos. They fill in the gaps in my memory, particularly the ones of those who are no longer with me. I don't live in the past, but I do like flicking through them perhaps once a year and remembering events and people that were special to me.

My second is a painting my grandmother painted for my grandfather. He loved it and so do I. I would be heartbroken if I damaged or lost it. It doesn't have any intrinsic value, but it's very special to me.

The third is another piece of art, a pen and ink drawing that was made by a friend as a gift and is of a personal nature. It's beautiful and I'm thankful I own it.

I could live without any of these items, but I would feel their loss.

TRON

I don't really consider her a possession, but as far as what I value most that belongs to me, I'd have to go with my dog Indigo. Nothing else even comes close. But after her, I'd have to say my photos and guitars. They're the most meaningful and personal.

hmmm ... so there's nothing you'd miss if you didn't have it? ... why do you have any possessions then? ... not trying to be glib, but I don't understand the motivation for buying anything unless it's functional in that case ...

Nope nothing that I can think of.

I never was a materialistic person... When I bought my home 20 years ago I realized I needed items to function in my home.. So I have functional items. Like furniture, bed, things like that..

it is not one thing. its more of a collection but my cds and stereo are probably the most important things, materialistically speaking.
