substitute teachers

how goofy are they

not quite all there

and we were relentless teasing all of them back in the day

there clothing always alittle wrinkled

they looked like a deer in the ol head lights

anyone have substitute tales to tell?

I remember a whole host of substitute teachers - i guess we must have been a horrible bunch of kids!

The one i remember distinctly was Ms Walia. She looked just like an owl. Well, she seemed to back then!
She was one of these teachers that just doesn't know how to control a class. She tried the relaxed approach, and when this failed she adopted the 'strict' (read: shout alot) approach. She never had any success, bless her.

Anyway, the moment that sticks out in my mind is when our class locked the poor woman in the Textiles cupboard. I still vividly recall getting my bag and walking out of the class with my friends, and hearing 'old owl' screaming and banging against the door to be let out.

Kids can be so cruel. I'm sorry.

I remember in my sophmore year packing a bowl in class and firing it up with one of my classmates while the sub was going over the lesson. She didn't say a word.

I made one, in Sixth Grade, throw a book at me (I ducked and it smashed against a wall).

I wouldn't have wanted to been any of my teachers from sixth grade on. Subs or otherwise.

It's kids that are the problem.
Looking back Ms Walia was a really nice woman, she just couldn't control the class. Wrong profession i guess.

Would you be able to discipline me? Grrr!!

I thought i did a pretty good job.. All the kids were very nice.. few were out of hand.. I remember once i taught Sunday school and this little boy named Allan was making farting noises with his arm pit and was like Ms. Jennifer.. look at what i can do.. They were only 7 years old.. and sooo damn cute. I had to laugh at him, but still be stern and say..I dont think this is the right time to be doing that Allan.. Maybe later.. and winked at him.

I will never forget the physical abuse one sub gave the class tough guy

Paul was the class tough guy. Well one day a sub (male) came and they just did not mesh. Paul was sort of acting his tough guy role to the teacher and the teacher obviously did not like Paul. The sub was doing some ventriloquist thing with a made up bird/dummy and Paul was snide in his bpdy language etc. The sub He ended up literally throwing Paul under the teachers desk and made Paul stay there and yelling at him etc.

The sub then went on to do some ventriloquist show for us in class with theodd bird dummy he made. We were all a lil too shocked to even care. Even though Paul sometimes was aduring the regular year, I dont think it was right to humiliate him like that and Im sure he has never forgotten that incident either. I wish we were not in the 5th grade and were older so we wouldn't have been afraid to report what had happened.

I was gonna say that some little shits need to be roughed up a little, but you're right, 11 years old is too young.

Now, if he was 15 and playing up i'd whoop is behind so bad! smile

yeah..only 10-11..and plus there are ways to deal withn a Fonzi besides humiliating him though etc..I mean this guy was an adult and he put his hands on him and threw him under a desk etc yelling...I think he should have been arrested. If Pauls father had heard what happeend ( Paul was probably to embarassed ot ever mention it) he would have whooped that teachers ass.

Yeah, we had one 'eccentric' science teacher called Mr.Shalom from Israel. I had difficutly believing that was his real name. He claimed he could fly but when I asked him how that was feasable he used to mumble and avoid the question.

Once, he caught me eating in class and he asked what it was to which I replied 'A Foxes Glacier Mint' and he just stood there for about 5 seconds looking dumbfounded. He then sent me out saying that the science block was in his words, 'Not a McDonalds'. 1st time I was ever sent out of a lesson.
