Get on Weight Watchers. It's the best because it teaches you how to eat better and respect what goes into your body more. With weight watchers and exercise I lost 6 pounds in 1 week and it is still coming off that quickly. I am eating just fine too. No complaints about it being hard. All you have to do is watch what you are eating and how much. simple.

Weight Watchers is like, my mother's diet. It's too old fashioned...

This has been the easiest thing for me to do, the only hard part is not eating what you're so used to.

When I reach my goal weight, I'll stop. biggrin

I put myself on a I-don't-eat-anything-after-3pm-diet. It works perfect for me and I don't have to feel bad eating anything fat or unhealthy or junk food before 3pm.

Yes, but WW is tried and true. It is a healthy way to MAINTAIN weight loss. If you stop doing Atkins when you reach goal, I guarantee you will gain it all back. Try WW if you are serious about long term weight loss, or at least do WW once you reach goal to learn how to maintain your weight. Just my 2 cents.

WW is great on so many levels. Not only is it good to lose weight on, but it teaches you a healthier lifestyle. I now look at what I am eating and make meals accordingly. I know I'm going out on Friday and drinking a 12 pack of beer, so I will eat vegetable soup for lunch and some fish and veggies for dinner. If not, I have what I normally have without all the cookies and candy involved.
Plus, as a member of Weight Watchers, you have to pay for it and you weigh in every week. Kinda holds you accountable because you know you are paying and you better loose weight when paying for it. I thought it was silly at irst but I notice a huge difference after only a couple weeks. I feel great and I am starting to look great again.

And damn, I'm a 250 pound man. If it isn't old fashioned for me, I don't know who it's old fashioned for. smile

did you get the book? I know several people who just did the diet according to what they thought it was and they lost weight but it was unhealthy. If you follow the diet according to the book and with the help of your doctor it will work. Some carbs are ok there is a set amount per day. The literature keeps it all in balance.

good luck and be careful

take care of you!

I just heard that Burger King is going to offer "Atkins-friendly" menu items; namely a "Whopper Platter" which I guess is going to be the burger and toppings on a plate instead of a bun.

In & Out Burger rocks! I went there for lunch and had the "Protein Burger". It was the Double Double without the bun, several leaves of lettuce were used to sub as a bun! Fucking Aye!

Subway Sandwiches have a Lo-Carb Wrap, only 10 grams of fat.

Of course, El Pollo Loco chicken is all around carb-free. I ate there for two days in a row, and skipped my norm of beans, rice and tortillas. I had steamed veggies and corn on the cob instead. I gave my buddy the tortillas.

It's hard in a good way. You do think about what you're eating. I have a "cheat day" Sunday, but even then I don't eat as much as I normally would have.

I do have my share of carbs - a glass of milk in the morning, some OJ, etc... Just not as much as I used to have.

And yeah, butterfli25, I read the book... it's very informative, and the way it's explained if you follow the plan, you should be alright. smile

Great responses guys, thanks for the concern! touched

Someone lied to you. The new Atkins Friendly Subway wraps only have 10 net-carbs, but they are extraordinarily high in fat.

27 grams of fat for the chicken-bacon & 25 grams of fat for the turkey-bacon.

It's a jungle out there.

I've heard Atkins is only good for short term weight loss - is this true?

I've also heard good things about WW... apparently it's the best diet for helping you lose weight AND keep it off (which is where most other diets fail).

In any case June, good luck! hug

Thanks... so far, so good... it's cool. I'm not gonna live the rest of my life on this one, just to reach my goal weight, then I'll find something more healthy and less controversial.

(btw - nice to see ya again!)

I agree, coqui. I have been on the Weight Watchers diet too, and it has always worked well for me. I know a lady who has been on the Atkins diet, and she never seems to be able to keep the weight off once she's lost it, she just seems to put it right back on again. Not eating any bread is sure to make you lose weight quicker, but what happens when you start eating bread again? I imagine your weight will go right back up again, unless if you exercise frequently and drink tons of water. My twocents
