I try to let creepy crawlies free when it's convenient. Sometimes, though -- when it's cold out, when I don't have some container handy, or when I'm just in a bad mood -- it's just easiest to kill 'em. And I'm sorry, but the more legs something has, the less of a chance I'll be merciful.

...I guess any kind of aerosol is supposed to work.

I had a dream (one in which Janfriend has not mentioned)...

a spider bit me on my arm (have to be technical around here) and it began to swell over time...

eventually, it ruptured and out crawled millions of baby spiders... all over me... ~cardiacarrest!!!~

now I have a real story... although it is too horrid to tell.

That kinda sorta happened to me when I was a kid. I grabbed a rake out of the basement without realizing there was a nest of spider hatchlings on it. They crawled all over my arm.

despite the horror, spiders are truly amazing... god's intricate creature. ~valuable~

just not so near... to me.

Actually, I spray Pam non-stick cooking spray on spiders...it keeps them from being able to stick to and climb the walls..

I once walked right into a huge stinkin' spider's web one morning...it was still dark out, and I was delivering these door hangers...and the door had huge bushes on each side, and apparently a spider decided to build a web right across the walkway leading to the door...of course, I didn't see the web it being so dark...and I had my Walkman on so I was just lost in the music while walking around doing this mindless work...then suddenly felt that gawd-awful feeling of spider web silk against my face...I jumped back, freaked out...and noticed this big, black "thing" dangling from the top of my forehead...and realized it was a spider... :O

Once, while in the woods playing with a couple of boys, we ran into other boys who were torturing a frog, and I looked in amazement and disgust. It's a boyhood ritual I was happy to skip.
