Underrated Film Actors: Speak ya clout.

I was thinking about this the other day: who are those film actors you think are underrated or unsung? I'll submit a few for your consideration.

Ian Holm: He's absolutely fantastic in whatever he does, be it Shakespeare (Henry V) or science-fiction (The Fifth Element).

Giancarlo Esposito: This brother has chops, period. He doesn't get nearly enough work.

John Ritter: You know, I have seen him in the last few months in "Bad Santa" and "Tadpole," and he was much more talented than I originally gave him credit for.

Luis Guzman: Everything he's in, he brings a real, earthy, tough but surprisingly warm and accessible vibe.

Charles Dutton: extraordinarily versatile.

Armand Assante: Extraordinary actor. Should have won an Oscar for his role in "Q & A."

There may be more that I am forgetting. What are your choices.

Esai Morales: Limited to ethnic type roles, but has chops to do other things. C'mon execs, think outside the color lines.

Kurt Russell: This guy's been chasing that Oscar for over 40 years in film... he's great when the right role comes along. See Tombstone for a stellar performance. This new movie coming up about the hockey team that goes to the Olympics... looks like it just may do it.

Dennis Quaid: Fantastic lead actor, has done several different roles, actually played the piano for "Great Balls of Fire" the Jerry Lee Lewis story.

Edward James Olmos: See Esai Morales, same problem.

Cuba Gooding, Jr.: This cat deserves some good roles, like the ones they keep giving to Will Smith. (he said that himself!). He's truly a wonderful actor, needs a better agent, perhaps?

I'll think of more.

Alec Baldwin: The better of the Baldwin clan... one good role, that's all he needs.

Winona Ryder: Oh, she's been recognized with three (I think) Oscar noms... never won any. Slipped in the public eye with the shoplifting shit... but, girl can act!

Eric Stolz: Great in Pulp Fiction and Mask, where'd he go?

Yeah, I had Q&A on the brain. But Assante was excellent also in "Mambo Kings," Guzman is great in anything, Dutton was outstanding in "Get On The Bus."

Ol' girl in "Q&A" was fine.
