Tom Cruise is on Bravo's Inside The Actors Studio

Im not sure if thats irony or an oxymoron. But:

he has done some good work starting with Color Of Money and Born On 4th Of July...

he says money was never a driving force...okay but he is finan ce savy in his percentage taking and second to get 20 mil negotiations etc

he had his staff of 2 agents, publicist etc with him

he must really want an oscar this year to appear

TC wants respect...I wonder if it's time. He is a mix of actor and movie star...you have actors and you have movie stars..his focus an ernestness(is that a word) puts him in the middle even though he has been nominated previously ( not that that means anything)

Tom usually surrounds himself with good actors and good directors to carry himself they say and sometimes I say...but still. Mission Impossible 3 should be good.

I didn't start liking Tom Cruise, until "Jerry Maguire." He did a great job in that and in "Magnolia"

I called that number 877-tame-her and it was him talking about the destroy and conquer tapes and why you should order them. It was hilarious. They disconnected it after about 6 months

I saw this episode too and it was CRAP! For Chrissakes, there was no mention of either "The Color of Money" or "Legend" and James Lipton (who I can't STAAAND!!) kept breezing through the films and asking the STUPIDEST questions!

Bravo used to be such a cool channel...

You wanted discussion on Legend? evillol

I don't care if it was directed by Ridley Scott..Legend does not deserve to be mentioned in anyones resume' .

Hey, "Legend" was a DAMN good movie! Scott fucked it up by editing too much out of it...but Cruise and Mia Sara were fantastic...and it was Tim Curry's second greatest role!

That movie would have been even better without a vomit-inducing, clichéd line like,

"you

complete

me."

I mean, good gawwwd!!! What a bunch of sentimental hogwash.

It was written and directed by Cameron Crowe..the guy who had John Cusak holding up a radio to entice and show his hurt to his lady love...Crowe is sentimental like that lol

The only redeeming thing about that movie are the set pieces and Tim's performance..ok lets say it is sort of a cult fav...it sure as hell isnt something that one would bring up on Actors Studio after all these years with other better performances since then. I mean come on.

Well to be fair t cameron who I really admire..isn';t it testament to his writing and ideas that his lines becione part of th e lexicon of love and sentimentality..it is not his fault that his lines get overwrought by the public who uses them...and that sceen with Cusak holding upth e radio is semi iconoclastic etc...I just give Tom credit for bringing the emotion to his scmaltzy line instead of fucking it up.

Good call. nod

I give Cruise alot more credit as an actor than alot of people do. I think he has some acting chops and great presence.

Cruise can do good work, but his palette is limited. He plays the same chacracter in many of his movies, like John Wayne, but he generally makes it work by injecting presence.

As for James Lipton, the way things are doing, he'll soon interview Carmen Electra for her work in Scary Movie.

I saw this late last night and I must say, I have seen two recent interviews with him, the first being on ellen and I am starting to really like him. I really wasn't into tom cruise but last night as I sat there listening to James Lipton I realized I have seen all of his movies except 3. He came across as humble and encouraging. I liked how he was..open, as far as him playing the same character over and over well he explained his approach to acting so it really makes sense. His ability is improving, he does put it all out there. I was somewhat disappointed when he brought up LRon Hubbard, but that is just me being biased, I mean if it works for him who am I to complain. I have a new respect for him...gotta go see last samurai.

James Lipton is a hack. I was watching his interview with Benicio Del Toro and he gets all serious and asks Benicio, "So, Benicio, 'del toro,' whatever does that mean?"

I was like WTF. A redneck in Arkansas would probably be able to guess at the translation.

But, whatever...

I love Wil Ferrell's (sp?)impression of him on SNL. Always staring off into the audience the whole time and never looking at who he's interviewing. lol
