althom said: On the weekend I was driving through town and coming up to a intersection. I could see the lights had just turned green so I carried on through the lights doing about 55km hour. Just to my left a truck decided he wasn't going to wait and speed up through the intersection on a course for me!
Luckly I saw what he was doing and hit the brakes...HARD! I just missed him as he kept going past me. The bastard would've taken my side of the car out...and I had my daughter in the car. That was too close for comfort! I'd hate to think what would've happened if I didn't brake when I did. I'm more worried about the safety of my daughter than myself. Anyone else had close calls like that? Yep you have to pay attention to other drivers. Looking both ways before you go into an intersection is always a good idea. You're lucky you've never had to ride in the car with my dad. He goes through lights that have been yellow as long as they've been within eyesight just to see if he can get through before it turns red. He lets the dog (60 pounder- not a tiny thing) sit in his lap and look out his window and jump around the car while he's driving. He talks on the cell phone (not hands-free- and he dials while he's driving too sometimes), eats (more dangerous probably than talking on phone), takes stupid risks such as taking a turn faster than he should and taunting other drivers. He doesn't pay attention. One time we were in a complicated intersection where the people beside us to the left would turn left on their green light but we would go straight ahead on our green. People on the left started moving left, dad immediately started moving forward. Nearly got smashed. It goes on and on. Just count your blessings. Maybe say a little prayer for me.
