Overall it was a good film. But I hate scenes where the heros are overwhelmed by enemies yet they still manage to kill every one of them. And how did the elves manage to have unlimited arrows? Then of course there's the scene where the woman chops off the dragon's head in two chops and then kills that big motherfucker like he was a mouse. I guess they had to throw in at least some PC bullshit to make the chicks feel empowered. Oh well, I guess the film couldn't be perfect.

Why was there no IKEA ad thrown in there becasue them hobbits were gay as hell...you cant tell me they werent. Frodo and Sam...Frodo wanted ot kiss Sam a few times it looked like..french kiss, kiss..like a Louis and Armand...and all of them on that frilly bed at the end etc.

Sorry, I have issues with the whole "Hobbits were gay" thing. I personally thought it was nice that they showed two men who cared so deeply for each other, and were totally loyal to each other. Why is it that our soceity always assumes that when men care for each other they are gay?

I dont know why society does..but when I see two men or hobbits and at least one of them appears to have lust in their eyes for the other, that's when I think they are gay or bi etc. Get it right and dont assume I think two men cant care about each other without being gay.

I never said YOU specifically thought that. I said society did

I know you did. That's why I qualified my statement with a 'I don't know why society does..but when I"

. .Anyway, I just disagree that they had "lust in their eyes", that's all.

Maybe I went a lil far with the lust comment but still...u cant tell me tha if they did kiss in the ending of th e first ne and in the third one at these swirling string kodak moments of togetherness, two of them alone looking with longing in each others eyes (especially that Elijah) etc that you wouldn't be surprised. Sam was the butch.

lol maybe that's just Astin and Wood?? I guess I'm just coming from the point of view, after having read the books, that these were two guys who had basically become brothers through the course of these trials. They had truly bonded and loved each other deeply (that' at least the way Tolkein descibed them. Maybe the actors just didn't know how to convey that well, since so many people are feeling a "gay" vibe from them. Like I said, I didn't get that, but plenty of other people seemed to. Maybe there is something to it.

Yes, Im sure the books portray a more brotherly friend etc type of relationship/bond. Portrayed today in movies it cant help but be looked stereotypically bya large portion of society as being gay etc. Im actually glad they did it the way they did and did not go another route for fear of beng seen as it being homoerotic/gay etc. Cheers to Jackson, Wood, and Astin for not being afraid to go there etc. regardless of what the reaction of the audience would be.

The same thing actually happened in the 3th installement (although less notable) when there's a horse riding over a really small but long bridge (i can't rmmbr the exact scene).
With all great special effects in these movies, how can there b fuck-ups like that?

I remember that. It was when Liv Tyler's character (can't think of her name now) took off and rode back to Rivendell to ask her father what he had seen for her future or something like that. I remember thinking that it looked really fake.

I completely agree!!! This is why I respect you, RDHull. Even when we disagree you bring up great points.

I had the same feeling that the filmakers and actors were very brave, in todays climate of reading homo-eroticism into everything, to stay true to the spirit of the books with regard to Frodo and Sam's friendship.

i think i was/am caught up in the mysticism and beauty of the trilogy because all errors and unneeded(extra) scenes went unnoticed by me. i actually went to the theater 3 times to see Return of the King. i thought it was fabolous and was sorry to see it end. i also heard a rumor of the Hobbit being made...however i don't remember if i really heard it or dreampt it. my dad read the Hobbit to me when i was six...i read it again as an adult and to this day remains one of my fave books.
